that song always makes me cry for some reason ;-;

in this oneshot, reader is a doctor at the Trost District Hospital :D

"He's just not himself anymore." Your boss explained to you. You nodded and raised your eyebrows.

"I mean, he did just lose a limb a few days ago. I wouldn't be too happy about that if I was him." You explained to the chief doctor of the hospital. But he only shook his head and shooed you away. Oh well, Erwin Smith was your patient, it was your job to make sure his physical and mental health was in check.

You walked up to the door and softly knocked twice. A low grunt inside the room signaled it was alright for you to enter. You pushed the door open and walked in, offering a small smile to the blonde, who was laying on his side with the blanket over his head. You chuckled and nudged his shoulder.

"Mr. Smith? You okay under there?" You softly asked him. Erwin sighed and pulled the blanket off his face. His cheeks were streaked red and his eyes were puffy. You knew not to question it though, instead, you just organized the nightstand a bit.

"Is it okay if I open the window?" You inquired. He slowly nodded, which made you smile slightly and walk over to the window, which was set in the wall on the right side of the bed. Once you slid the curtain's open and pushed the window halfway open, you turned back to Erwin. He was now laying on his other side, facing you with a sad smile.

"What's wrong Mr. Smith?" You questioned, causing him to snap out of his awe-struck trance.

"Nothing. It's just been a while since I've seen a reassuring face like yours. It's...so stressful in this world when all you stare at is miserable faces that are tired of fighting." He explained as his face turned an embarrassed shade of crimson. You smiled again and sat down on the edge of the bed. The cool nighttime breeze of Trost blew gently into the room, the curtains floated a little bit. "I-I'm having a lot of trouble sleeping too..."

"Well, due to your current state, I can't give you any sleep medicine." You explained matter-of-factly. He nodded understandingly and sighed.

"What if you...I don't know...slept with me?" Erwin asked, which made you gasp slightly. He saw your surprise and quickly turned a darker shade of an embarrassed red. "N-Not in that way! I'm sorry, I didn't mean it to come out that way. I meant, just sleeping. Not the...o-other meaning." His embarrassed stutters caused you to chuckle a bit. You brushed your fingers through your hair and placed your clipboard on the nightstand.

"I guess I can. The chief doctor will be leaving in about five minutes." Hesitantly, you sunk down on the bed on his left side. You were a bit distant for about two minutes, but then you got a bit more comfortable with the situation and snuggled into his left arm. His breath hitched, but he slowly wrapped his arm around you and held you close. A few moments later, you heard soft sniffling and attempts to stifle crying sounds. You looked up to see various tears flowing down Erwin's cheeks.

"Erwin, what's the matter?" You worriedly questioned as you brought one of your hands up to cup his cheek lovingly. His lips opened into a happy smile as you stroked your thumb under his beautiful blue eyes to wipe the tears away.

"It's been so long since I've felt true happiness like this."

[Three days later...]

ok that song better suites this scene than the other one lol

{still 2nd person pov}

The sun was neither too warm nor too cold as it shone down on the lush green courtyard of the hospital. The cherry blossom trees gently swayed in the wind, creating the perfect scene of an early spring. You and Erwin slowly strolled around the greenery, taking in the fresh morning air.

When you reached a certain cherry blossom tree, Erwin stopped you and took you into his arm.

"(Y/N), I need to tell you something." He began to turn light red as the pale pink petals fell peacefully around the tree you two were under. You looked up and raised an intrigued eyebrow.

"This past week spent with you has really changed me as a person. I hope this isn't too soon, but...(Y/N), I've...I-I've fallen for you." He immediately cringed after saying that, turning away from you as his face turned crimson. You could see his visible nervousness, which was all because of you. The simple presence of you always made his inside feel numb. The same went for you. Just being in the same room as him completely shut down any other feelings you had for anyone else. Only uneasiness remained.

"Is that a love confession Erwin?" You asked slyly, wrapping your arms around his waist. He nodded, clearly embarrassed, and turned back to look at you. His blue eyes shimmered in the sun, which only added to his beauty.

"Yes. I didn't plan for it to be so awkward th-" You quickly interrupted Erwin by pressing your lips against his. He was rigid for a moment, but soon realized what was happening and melted into your embrace. He let you take control, since this was his first kiss. You snaked your other hand up his chest to his neck, travelling north to his cheek and gently cupped it. He kept his arm wrapped around your back and pulled you closer against him.

"That had to have been your first kiss." You guessed when you pulled away. He scoffed playfully and nodded with a bashful smile.

"Is that a bad thing?" He asked in reply.

"No. And why would it?" You answered in a reassuring tone as you pulled him back down to your lips. This time, he was a lot less rigid, his eyes fluttered shut, and his only hand took refuge on your hip.
