"I'm telling you Mike, nothing happened in the Commander's office." I responded to Squad Leader Mike's rather intrusive question. He chuckled as if he didn't believe me and leaned back in his chair.

"Spare me the lies. I can smell when you're lying. Just give me the gist of what happened." Mike said before sniffing the air and sipping from his glass of water. I sighed and rolled my eyes as I dumped a spoonful of sugar into my coffee. The spoon clinked against the side of the mug as I stirred it in slow circles.

"Just some...things." I mumbled under my breath, hoping he wouldn't hear me. But of course, my karma had other plans. Mike raised an interested eyebrow.

"What kind of 'things?' I'm your friend, you know I won't judge you." He was getting more pushy, so I just decided to tell him. What's the worst that could happen? He was my best friend, after all, I trusted him with this information.

"We...sort of, had sex...?" I whispered before taking a spoonful of the coffee up to my lips to test the flavor. I heard Mike's glass slam against the table, so I whipped around to see his face in his hands, stifling his outbursts of laughter. I could hear him forcefully exhaling to hide his laughs. I shadowed my eyes and waited for him to come out of his hands.

"Are you finished, moron?" I asked him seriously. He nodded and pursed his lips, fighting the urge to laugh again. He took a deep breath in, then let it out a few seconds later.

"Yeah, I just-"

"(L/N)! Commander Erwin wants to see you in his office." One of the cadets called out to me. I sighed again and watched Mike wink suggestively at me as I walked out. Instead of replying, I stuck my middle finger up at him and made my way to Eyebrow's office. When I reached the set of double doors, I knocked twice and crossed my arms.

"Hey, you wanted to see me! I swear if you keep me waiting again!" I yelled through the door. I listened intently as Erwin growled under his breath and placed his pen down on his desk.

"Just come in (Y/N)." I pushed the doors open and entered his office. He furrowed his eyebrows at me and folded his hand on the desk. But one irregularity I noticed was how dark his office was. None of the candles were lit, and the curtains were closed. The only light in the office was the one on his desk, but even that was very dim.

"Can you even see in here?" I asked as I shut the doors.

"Take a seat." Erwin replied, brushing off my question. I slowly nodded and sat down on the chair across from him, bending my leg and resting it on top of my thigh on my other leg.

"So what do you want? I have things to do, you know."

"(Y/N), I've been thinking...about that afternoon in here the other day..." I shifted in my seat, moving my bent leg down so I could clench my legs together. Just thinking about it still made my lower regions tingle.

"Yeah, what about it? And why the hell is it so dark in here? Kind of creepy, if you ask me."

"I was trying to relax and nap, but I wanted to speak with you first. Anyways, I was thinking about that day, and I wanted to know how you felt about it." Erwin finally met my eyes and sighed deeply through his nose. I raised my eyebrows. Was it just me or did he seem...nicer?

"Uhh, it felt good. What do you mean by felt about it?" I responded in a confused tone. He averted from my gaze and stood up, towering over me at 6'2. Too bad we hated each other's guts, I would love to have my hands all over his body way into the night.

'Ew, pull it together (Y/N).'

"(Y/N), let me ask you a question. If we were the last two people on Earth, just you and I, would you love me?" Erwin asked, a certain tone evident in his voice, though I couldn't put my finger on what it was. I pondered for a moment.

"So, if the Titans just suddenly died, and the rest of the world's population also suddenly died...you're asking...if I would love you? I'm gonna have to give you probably not as an answer." I answered, analyzing the question out loud.

"Hmm. So what we have between us is simply lust?" He finally locked his eyes on me with a disappointed look. I shook my head and thought about that for a few more moments.

"Hold on. It's not lust...you're just scared to admit you love me." I concluded. He pursed his lips and turned away from me again. "That's why you apologized, that's why we did...what we did. Yet you still hold back. Why?"

"May I ask who helped you figure that out?"

"My heart helped me." I lowered my eyes, keeping my eyes fastened on my thighs. "My feelings too..." I lowered the volume of my voice dramatically, Erwin didn't hear that last part, thankfully.

"I know we're not friends, but I hope that somehow, in the near future, we won't be enemies either." He took a match from his desk. After striking it against the box, he began to light the candles around the office. "I'm not very tired anymore, to be honest." I gave him a sad smile and rose up from my own seat.

"I'm sorry."

"Don't be. You can leave if you'd like, but I'd like to...speak with you later tonight. Stop by when everyone else leaves." He said as he lit the last candle and blew the match out. I raised my eyebrows, but remained silent. I was pretty sure I knew exactly what Erwin meant by talk.

I was also pretty sure how I would take advantage of that.
