I made a B-line from the utility closet to Penelope's door. I knocked and whispered/screamed through the door, "Garcia? Pen it's me, let me in I need to talk about something important." I heard heels clicking toward me down the hall, attached to legs that led up to a bright purple skirt.

Headed my way with her octopus mug, Penelope greeted me, "Hello, my love, you're looking especially stressed out today. Something on your mind, honey bunches?"

Through gritted teeth I said, "As a matter of fact, yes, please hurry and open the door before someone sees that I'm coming in here."

"Gasp. Embarrassed to be seen with me," she made haste pushing the buttons on her padlock, "Enter if you dare, Y/N."

We closed the door behind us and I took a seat on her desk while she settled into her chair. She could tell I was nervous and seemed genuinely worried, "Is everything all right, what happened?"

Big inhale, "Ok, so I've liked JJ since my first day here and the only person I've told all this time is Morgan but I found out from Em today that she and you both knew and she also told me that JJ was bi so now I'm thinking I actually have a shot at this but Em told me to ask her out and I'm still not sure because I know she's not big on workplace romance so I figured I'd come to you because you've known her longer than anyone here so please tell me whether or not it will be worth it because I don't want to ruin what insufficient relationship I have with her already." Big exhale.

"Wow, ummm. I... Okay," she sets her mug down, "JJ is in fact bisexual, but she hasn't dated a girl since like her freshman year of college, so she thinks she won't be 'good at it'—"

"That's ridiculous, how could she ever think th—"

"Hey! I didn't interrupt your rant, now you don't interrupt mine. However, that was the only reason she said she wouldn't be into it. I think if you made it clear that a romantic relationship won't ruin your friendship, she might be for it."

"Are you telling me to go for it?"

"I think so?"

"Pen, please!"

"Okay yes, yes I am. I am telling you to go for it."

"Shit, okay I'll do it."

"Like now? Like right now? Oh my god, I'm so excited! I should film th—"

"Garcia I'm not gonna do it now or here, I'll invite her to my place later and I'll do it in private." And that's exactly what I did. Before we all headed out for the day, I told JJ to come over to my place for dinner since the boys were at Will's house. Because they stayed with him "half" the time, JJ was alone a lot. Whenever I knew she'd be by herself I invited her out to eat or told her to come to my place. We loved keeping each other company. In a way, it's like we were already dating, just without the sex.

It's 6:28. She's coming at 6:30. I'm currently watching the seconds tick by on my watch, because I have nothing better to do than be unspeakably anxious. Suddenly, the buzzer rang on my apartment intercom. I ran over to it, "Jayje?"

"Yeah, it's me."

"K come on up!" I buzzed her in, and expected her any minute. About 30 seconds later, she knocked on my door.

I opened it and she quickly embraced me in a hug, "Hey, lovebug!"

"Haha why're you so happy to see me, Jayje, it's only been a few hours?"

"I know, I know but I'm always happy to see you. Hey, are you okay by the way? I saw you snatch Emily up earlier today, seemed like something was urgent."

I nervously scratched the back of my neck, trying to quickly come up with an excuse, "Um, yeah I was just mad at her about something from the day before. But it's ok I sorted her out." JJ let out a chuckle and then sat down so we could eat. We talked our entire way through dinner about her boys, various cases, and the latest season of Grey's Anatomy. Afterwards, she took a spot on the couch while I grabbed a bottle of wine and a couple glasses. I made my way over to her and handed her a glass. Here goes nothing. "So listen, Jayje, I kinda wanted to talk to you about something." She let out a hard swallow, I think she knew what was coming.

"Okay," she set her glass down, as did I. "What's up?"

"I'm just, um— I'm just gonna go out and say this before I overthink it and back out. I've liked you, like like liked you since my first day with the unit. I think you are so unbelievably stunning and I was into you almost immediately but I've always been so afraid to say anything because I know how you feel about... dating women. Especially women who you work with. But, JJ, I'm telling you I am so willing to give us a shot and I know I want you in my life no matter what, so I wouldn't let it get awkward between us at work or outside of work or whatever. Ugh.. uhh, I- I guess what I'm trying to say it that I'd really love to be your girlfriend, if you'll let me try." I looked up for the first time during my speech and was, to my surprise, met with a smile. I couldn't help but smile back.

"Y/N, if there's any woman out there who I'd make an exception for, it would be you." I couldn't help but scoop her up and sit her in my lap. I think I accidentally tickled her a little bit because she started giggling.

"So is that a yes?"

She grabbed the sides of my face with both her hands and said, "Yes, it's a yes. I will let you 'try' to be my girlfriend." I tightened my grip around her waist.

"Can I... Can I kiss you?"

She responded by leaning in and softly touching her lips to mine. We stayed that way, making out, for a couple minutes. We knew to stop before anything got too heated, agreeing that our first time wouldn't be tonight. I told her to stay at my place, though, because it was already dark out and I didn't want her going home alone at that hour. I was content knowing that I'd wake up the next morning with JJ in my bed, and that we'd walk into the BAU together the next morning. Morgan would call that "game."
