JJ and I walked into the elevator together and I hit the button for the sixth floor. I glanced at her and saw her staring at me, smiling."Uhh Jayje," I waved my hand in front of her face, "Everything okay?"
"I can't believe we're getting married... it feels like a dream"
"Well it's a very real dream then, because it's happening, baby" I kissed her temple and the elevator dinged to open on the BAU floor. We walked out, hand in hand, and dropped our things at our desk before heading to Hotch's office. I knocked on the door and heard him give us the okay to come in.
I peeked my head through the doorway, "Can we speak to you for a moment, sir?"
"Sure, Y/N, what is it?" JJ and I stepped into his office together and took a seat in front of his desk.
She looked at me, "Soooo we have some news," and then at Hotch, "We're getting married."
He shot us a rare smile, "Wow, um... congratulations, both of you!"
I placed my hand over JJ's, "Thank you, sir. We plan on telling the whole team today as well, but we thought the orthodox route would be to tell you first."
JJ asked, "Is there anything we have to fill out? Forms or papers or anything?"
"Actually yes, you will have to sign a formal disclosure letter to inform the bureau about the advancement of your relationship, but don't worry about disapproval— I've been reporting only positive feedback regarding your ability to work together despite your fraternization, so as long as they know it's been going smoothly they shouldn't give you any trouble."
JJ and I both let out a sigh of relief at that and I said, "Thanks, Hotch, it really means a lot."
We all stood up before he gave us one final courtesy, "Of course, and congratulations again. I'm assuming a family wedding is being planned?"
JJ rolled her eyes, "Yes and Garcia is already boiling with excitement trying to contain the secret..."
"Well, go tell the team before she ruins it for you." JJ and I walked down to the bullpen in search of Derek and Spencer. We found Morgan sitting on Reid's desk watching Reid complete a Rubik's cube.
With JJ's hand interlocked in mine, I said to them "Hey guys, we have something to tell you..."
Reid put his Rubik's cube down and Morgan looked at us, "Okay, shoot"
JJ bit her lip looking at me and I motioned for her to be the one to tell them: "We're getting married!" Morgan jumped off the desk yelling, "Ayyyyyy," before hugging us each individually. Reid also got up and gave us each a quick hug, "Awww congratulations!"
Emily finally got up from her desk and made her way over, "Break the news?"
I turned around, "Yep... Penelope didn't spill the beans did she?"
"Nope! She locked herself in her lair to avoid seeing people and accidentally letting it slip."
We heard Rossi step out of his office and call down from the walkway, "What's all the commotion down there?"
I yelled back at him, "Come here and find out, Dave!" He walked the few steps to meet us all at Reid's desk, "Okay I'm here, now what's all the ruckus?"
Emily almost burst out laughing, "Please you did not just say 'ruckus!'" He smacked her over the head and turned his attention back to me.
I put my hand on JJ's hip, "We're getting married!"
He congratulated us and gave us each a kiss on both cheeks before offering, "Wedding at my place? I'm the host with the most!"
JJ stopped him before he got too excited, "Slow down, Dave, we haven't started planning anything yet."
Emily asked, "Nothing? Get a move on, girls, I love me a good wedding."
I jumped in, "Relax, we're gonna start planning tonight."
About 7 hours later
That's exactly what we found ourself doing when we got home: sitting at our little breakfast table with bridal magazines and wedding binders sprawled every which way.JJ was in heaven, "This is going to be so perfect, I can't wait!"
"Haha me too, Jayje... so first thing's first I guess— setting a date?"
"Hmmm, how bout a month from today? November 20? I've always wanted a fall wedding"
"Sounds good to me... is a month enough time to plan?"
"I think so, and we can have it at Rossi's if we want... saves us from having to book a venue. And pay for it."
I snickered, "Haha, true... he did offer, so we know he'd be cool with it."
"I think it'll work, and it will certainly make our lives easier, yeah?"
"Yeah, I'm on board."
"Yay! Okay next," she checked venue off her list, "Officiant?"
"Isn't Spencer still ordained?"
"You're seriously okay with Spence officiating our wedding?"
"Yeah why not? He's been a big part of my life the last year or so, and he's been your best friend for ages. Might be nice to ask him to do it."
JJ thought about it for a second and then agreed, "Yeah that'll be really sweet actually," she checked it off her list and moved to the next box, "Okay... dresses. So, I already know what dress I want and what bridal shop sells it and I'm sure we can find you one there too if—"
"Wait, you already know what dress you want to wear for our wedding?"
"Yeah I picked it out months ago," I was still confused so she continued, "I've always known we'd get married it was just a matter of when— I've had some things in the works for a while now."
I giggled at that, "Aww I love that, babe... what else did you have planned already?" We stayed at the table working things out until about 9:00 and then retired to the living room for about an hour, give or take, before going to bed. JJ was so excited to plan the rest of our wedding with me and I was overjoyed to see how enthusiastic she was. The next month was going to be perfect.
