"Mitch, wake up. It's time to get up baby." I whispered, shaking him slightly. Mitch stirred in his sleep. His fringe was pushed back off of his face, sticking up in all directions. His eyes flickered open and his hand moved up to his face. He wrapped his hand into a fist and rubbed his eye.

"Do I have to?" He croaked, rolling over onto his side. I bent down so my face was in front of his. I rested my Ching on the mattress and scrunched up my face.

"Fine, I'll go without you." I said. Mitch groaned and reopened his eyes. He smiled when he saw me looking at him. My heart melted when his features lit up.

"I'll get up." He sighed, rolling his eyes and pulling the covers back. He kicked his legs over the edge and sat up.

We left when he was ready, a taxi was waiting outside to take us away. Mitch was so jumpy the whole car journey. He kept asking where we were going and we what we were doing. At times he would stop and look out the window. Staring at the scenery. Iceland was a truly beautiful place.

We stopped on the side of the road. A huge field was next to us. Mitch looked at me and frowned. I laughed, shaking my head and getting out of the taxi. I walked round to his side of the car and opened the door. He got out and looked across the field. It was pretty vast. A group of people stood around something I the middle. They all seemed to be waiting.

I grabbed Mitch's hand and guided him across the field and to the people. As we got closer the scene became clearer. The group of people were standing around a basket. The basket was as tall as me and maybe three metres in length and width. On the ground on the other side of the basket was a huge piece of fabric stretched out.

Mitch's face lit up. "That's a hot air balloon. Oh my god! You didn't, Scott!" He jumped up and down as we joined the group. The people who worked there nodded at me. I had contacted them before our trip and asked if everything would be ok. They were so helpful.

"I did. This is only half of it, Mitchy." I admitted as they began to help the people in front of us into the basket. There was maybe eight other people. Manly couples. I let go of Mitch's hand as he stepped up into the basket.

The people who worked there took hold of the fabric. One of them climbed into the basket with us and pulled on a rope that lifted us up. The wind got caught under the balloon and we began to lift off of the ground. Higher and higher.

Soon we were moving through the sky towards the mountains that were nearby. Mitch leaned over the side of the basket and looked down. He looked so free and happy. So innocent. His face full of life as he laughed loudly.

"This is amazing!" He commented to himself. His voice full of awe. I chuckled moving forward and standing beside him. "It's so beautiful." He gasped as we began to move over the mountains.

"So these mountains are called, Landmannalaugar. As you can see it looks like we are on a different planet." The man who worked there said.

It was true. Me looked like we were on Mars or something. The brown colour of the terrain below us mixed perfectly with the turquoise colour of the lakes in the mountains. There seemed to be so many different shapes and colours all around us. It was the most amazing site that had ever crossed my eyes, apart from Mitch of course.

I listened as Mitch's breath got caught in his throat. I turned my head to see that his mouth was hung open. "Do you like it?" I asked wrapping my arms around his shoulders and kissing the side of his head.

"I absolutely love it. Thank you, Scott." He said pressing into my embrace. I rested my chin on top of his head and looked out as we began to turn around.

"No need to thank me. I didn't create it." I said breathing out deeply.

"Well what or whoever did is the smartest. It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen." Mitch said, sighing. His body was relaxed completely. It was like he was laying on a cloud. No bit of his body was tense.

"Apart from me of course." I laughed. Mitch moved his head from under mine and looked up at me. He scrunched up his nose and then looked back out at the scenery.

"I guess. But there is only a thin line between the two." His eyes glistened in the sun light as he joked at me.

The hot air balloon began to descend and the mountains disappeared from view. The trees and field now becoming my main view.

As the taxi driver drove us back to the hotel the sun began to go down, turning the sky a pale shade of pink and orange. Mitch didn't stop talking for the whole car journey. "Wasn't it just amazing, Scott?! It's just so cool. How did you think of it! That's such a good idea!" He rambled.

When we got back the sky had turned a deep shade of blue. Mitch said he didn't want food so we headed back to our room. As I got ready for bed Mitch looked out the window. I was in the bathroom when, "oh my god, Scott! Look! Quick!"

I ran out into the room and Mitch was stood on the balcony. His eyes glued to the sky. I looked up as I walked out. The sky was a million and one different colours. Green, blue, yellow. It was amazing. They moved like waves and danced around in swirls. Each one crossed over each other.

"Wow! This is so cool." Mitch squealed tugging on my sleeve like a five year old.

"You're cute." I commented smiling down at him. He blushed bright pink and smiled back. Our eyes locked. I could see the colours of the sky moving in reflections in his eyes. I moved my hand up to cup his face and joined our lips.

It was softer and more tender than ever before. My mind and thoughts turned into putty as both of us melted into the others touch. In that moment only the two of us existed. No one else mattered. Nothing else mattered. Not the cancer. Not Pentatonix. Not our parents. Nothing. Because it was just the two of us in that moment.

As Mitch broke away he smiled. "I love seeing you smile." I whispered. He smile became bigger as he looked me up and down.

"Do you know why I smile when I'm around you?" He asked. I shook my head in response. "Because you make me happy." He whispered. I giggled at him. He was too cute. After a bit of silence Mitch spoke up again. "I love you, Scott. I hope you know that."

"I love you too." I whispered. His face turned serious and his eyes grew wide.

"Never leave me." He pleaded. His hands gripped tightly on my sweater.

"Wouldn't dream of it. Why would you think I would leave you?" I asked, resting my forehead against his. He breathed deeply. His eyes still glued to mine.

"Because I'm dying." His voice was barely a whisper. My heart skipped a beat as my mind shook. I could not imagine life without Mitch.

"Hey, that's in the future. We are all dying really. You should just think in the now. Live in the moment. Because right now is the only thing that matters. Right now I'm here with you and in my mind that is the best place on earth. When I am with you there's no place I'd rather be." I laughed, kissing his nose. Mitch's face cracked into a smile again.

"You're so silly." He teased through his laughter. "You make me happy, Scott Hoying. It's the kind of happiness that only comes from love. The kind that gives you that tingling feeling in your stomach, and sends shivers down your spine. And I always stop and think, 'how did I ever live without this?'"

"You're such a dork. That's why I love you. Now time for bed. Another busy day tomorrow!" I stated. I lifted him off of his feet. His legs wrapped around my waist and his arms wrapped around my neck. "You're like a koala on a tree." I said as I lifted the oxygen tank with my free hand. Mitch laughed as I walked inside.

I dropped him down on the bed and climbed in next to him. He cuddled into my side and rested his head on my chest. I wrapped my arms around him and sighed. "Thank you for the best day ever, Scott." Mitch said as he fell asleep.
