The day I met Mitch Grassi was the day my life changed. Well considering I was eight years old there really wasn't much to change. My life was pretty boring, no different to any other eight year old kid. I got up every morning, got dressed, ate breakfast, went to school, sat through six hours of absolute boredom, went home, did homework, played outside, went to bed. And that's how life went on.

Although I did go to singing classes in between that somewhere.

One day I came home from school and my mom told me she had found a musical theatre group in our town. It was called CATS and they were holding auditions for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory that weekend.

Me being the kid that would do anything to be involved in something that could possibly get my name out there decided it would be a good idea to go and audition. So that's what I did. I went to these auditions and ended up getting the part of Charlie

The first day of rehearsal and I woke up late. Mom had forgotten to set an alarm. It was only ten minutes but it was still late to me.

"Mom, this is your fault! We are so late!" I shouted at her as she started the car.

"Scott, honey, it's only ten minutes. We'll just say it was down to traffic. I know you're nervous because you don't know anyone who is doing it." She said back.

My mom knew me inside out. She could tell when I was stressed and angry and when something was going on in my head. She was the one person who could do that.

I didn't have that many friends at that age. I concentrated too much on things that I liked to do other then friends. If a friend asked me over to their house I would turn them down and go to singing lessons instead.

When we pulled up outside the door I ran out the door without saying goodbye. I heard my mom call for me and tell me when she'd be back to pick me up but I didn't take any notice of her.

I ran around the back of the building and went through the side door. I knew this building like the back of my hand, I had been doing shows here since I was five years old. I walked down the corridor and into the rehearsal hall.

A group of kids stood with their backs to me in the middle of the hall. The man who had been at my audition was stood in front of him, a taller man stood beside him and an extremely feminine man stood on the other side of him.

They looked up at me and smiled.

"Scott, you're late." The man in the middle said. He wasn't mad though, I could tell by the expression on his face.

"Yeah, sorry. There was traffic, like a lot." I said panting to try and get my breath back.

The group of kids all turned and looked at me. Two girls stood with their hands on their hips, smiling up at me. Must be Violet and Veruca. They already seemed joined at the hip. A fatter shorter boy stood about a meter away from them. He must be Augustus Gloop. Then my eyes scanned over a short boy with brown, nearly black hair and deep rich hazel brown eyes. It was like looking at an angel. He gave me a shy smile and looked down at his feet turning a bright shade of crimson.

"So you already know me from your auditions, Jake, I'm the director. This is Mike. He's is playing the part of Willy Wonka." He gestured to the tall man beside him.

"This is Ryan, the choreographer." He pointed to the man on the other side of him.

"Then we have Grace, Sara, Ben and Mitch." He pointed to all the kids in the line.

"Guys this is Scott and he is Charlie." Jake finished.

I nodded and stood in the line on the right side of Mitch.
