Artemis POV

"You know Arty, when you were born you didn't cry. You're mother and I were really worried about why our little girl wasn't crying. The doctor tried to get you to cry to make sure you were alright but you didn't."

"How come I didn't cry, Daddy?" I heard my small voice ask my father curiously.

He smirked.

"Well, I guess that you were waiting for Apollo to come out. As soon as he came out and you heard his cries you wouldn't stop until you were by his side. You've always been so strong Artemis. But don't let that stop you from crying sometimes." He said pushing a curl from my face.

"It's okay it cry Artemis. I'll always be here to wipe your tears away and pick you up when you fall." He said kissing the scrape on my knee.

"But what if you're not around Daddy?" I said feeling my lips tremble.

"Then you'll have Apollo to pick you up." He said pinching Apollo's cheek as he slept quietly on my father's other knee.

"And if Apollo falls too?"

"Then you pick each other back up. That's just what you do for those you love Honey, especially family," he said with a smile.

I let out a yawn and rubbed my eyes.

"Go to sleep princess. Don't worry I've got you. My strong little girl is always so tough." I heard him say softly.

I opened my eyes feeling the shoots of pain rip through my body.

"Dad?" I called out in a daze.

I was on the floor naked. I had somehow made it back to the house Apollo had gotten us.

"What is it?" I heard a familiar voice say.

"Mom?" I asked confused.

"Don't just stand there speak girl." She said harshly and then I was standing in the doorway of her office at home.

I looked down to see that I was still wearing the gosh-awful red dress that made me look younger than I actually was. The ruffles around my neck made me itch but she wanted to make sure my scars were completely covered. She wanted no bandages peeking out to be seen in her Christmas photos.

"You're testing my girl either speak or get out of my face." She said looking up from her desk to look at me.

"Why'd you laugh tonight?" I asked suspiciously.

She looked at me almost amused.

"Were you looking forward to going down to the basement with me tonight instead?" She asked walking closer to me.

"No. I just want to know why the change of heart?"

"You seem to forget I don't have a heart. That sunk with your father." She said bitterly.

"Yes, how could I forget," I said coldly rolling my eyes once she turned back around to her desk.

"I'm getting bored of you girl. You've made me predictable. I hate being predictable." She spoke.
