Artemis POV
"So Coco do you have a mate?" I asked Nico as we walked to the dining hall.
"I do actually!" He said happily.
We were currently on our way to the dining hall with bags of decor and gingerbread boxes. It was Christmas Eve Eve and we still had a lot left to do before tomorrow's events. Not to mention the ball on Christmas.
"Oh, can you tell me about them?" I asked curiously.
He chuckled.
"He's great honestly. Silly and full of life. Of course, to others, he comes off as a bit serious and somewhat rude. But he's the most loyal person I know. He'll always be by my side and I couldn't be happier to do this whole life thing with him." He said smiling to himself.
"Well does this 'he' have a name by any chance?"
"Oh yeah! His name Finley he's apart of the guard. One of Serena's top men actually." He said proudly.
I nodded.
"How long have you two been together?"
"We've been together for about six years now." He said opening the door for me to the dining hall.
"Damn that's a long time!" I said a bit shocked.
"Yeah, when he turned twenty and could find his mate we locked eyes and just knew. I still remember how my stomach filled with butterflies when he first approached me." He said with a sigh.
"Do you still feel the butterflies now? Even though so much time has passed." I asked as I took things out of the bags.
"Sometimes. But now I think I feel it more in my heart. This isn't some Highschool fling nor is it some cliche romance movie. We fight and sometimes we don't see eye to eye but as long as we can still grow and just smile at each other at the end of it all...nothing else matters." He said looking at me.
I nodded.
"I'm guessing he'll have to miss spending Christmas with you if he has to work huh?"
He smiled sadly before speaking.
"Yeah...but I understand it's for everyone's safety. We can always celebrate the day after." He said with a shrug.
I nodded my head. I had a plan to let everyone have the chance to spend the holidays together but I wanted to talk it over with Aaron before giving out any false hope.
But knowing a bit about Nico's mate makes me want to push myself even harder to ensure this plan works because I just have to meet him. And people like Nico deserve to be happy.
We finished taking everything out and began setting up the decorations on the tables.
Leaving here we needed to set up the ice rink. We had already put up fairy lights on the trees surrounding the lake yesterday now we just had to put together the tables and seating for hot chocolate.
We had a few mini tables for casual sitting and then a larger table for where the cocoa stand will be. I wanted the layout to have a wildlife scenery so I had roots wrap around the tables and creep up on the legs of the chairs.
Placing a lantern in the middle of the tables, the only thing left to do was to put together the photo area.
Once we finished we headed back to the Packhouse for lunch.
When we got there we saw Aaron and Dawn talking in the kitchen.
"Hey Snow just the person we were talking about!" Aaron said with a smile.
