Artemis
The walk to the hospital wing was nerve settling. Aaron kept to himself and gave me my space which I appreciated.
'Maybe he wasn't so bad.'
'Who am I kidding he's anything but bad. It's me. I'm the problem.' I thought to myself.
"Hey, we're here." I heard Aaron tell me.
We were standing right outside of the hospital, he was holding the door open for me. I walked through giving him a nod thanking him.
"So...these refugees? What are their injures?" I asked as I followed him past the rows of patient's rooms.
"Umm, most are minor, like slight burns and scrapes. But hey it could be more serious I don't know you're the expert." He said chuckling some.
"So you needed me for some minor injures? What about your healers?" I asked him with a smirk.
"Well umm you know they're busy with other stuff. And well you could check their work!" Aaron stuttered out.
"Oh, so they already looked them over? Does this mean you don't trust the power of your healers?" I asked amused.
"No, No I do trust them but I just...I still needed to see your healing in action, yeah that's all." Aaron rambled out.
"You're a bad liar you know?" I said eying him.
"Actually I think I'm a pretty good storyteller, it's just with you...I get a little nervous." He admitted sheepishly.
'A good storyteller?? He's too good for this world. Too good for me.' I thought, stopping in my tracks.
He stopped ahead of me and turned to look at me.
"Why do I make you nervous?" I asked folding my arms looking up at him.
"Well, what can I say...just about the same reason your cute little ears turn a pretty shade of red whenever I come near you." He said smirking.
"Hm no I think that's just the warning alarms ringing in my ears causing that," I said continuing our walk down the hallway.
"Whatever you say," He said catching up to my side.
"Well we're here," Aaron said opening the door.
Stepping in I could see that there were 8 refugees of all ages. I began checking over their injuries when one bed caught my eye. There were two little girls holding each other, one sleep in the other's lap. They had to be about 6 or 7 years old, one of them looked slightly older than the other.
Aaron must have caught me staring at the two, as he began to speak of them.
"We found them in the pantry of their Packhouse, the other refugees said they were new to the pack. Orphans found at the pack's borders, Alpha Marcus and his Mate took them in about a month ago. They had been skittish since joining the pack, barely talking to anyone except Marcus's Luna, Julia. They had just started opening up to the pack...but now that this happened...it seemed to set them back to square one." He said sadly.
"The one with the brown hair won't let go of her sister the one with the black hair. They never told the pack their names so they call the one with brown hair Hazel and the one with black hair Raven. They won't let anyone get near them but we're pretty sure Raven is injured." Aaron explained.
I nodded my head showing I understood as I started walking over to the girls.
Moving closer to the girls I saw Hazel tense and tighten her grip around Raven who was sleep but breathing heavily.
