Artemis POV
"Here you are beautiful." The young man at the tailor shop said as he handed me everyone's order.
My nose cringed for the fourth time since we arrived at the shop. The boy with dirty blond hair that matched the women from the other day had taken a liking to me as soon as I walked in. With his mother, I assume, taking care of other customers in the shop I was stuck with him. He ended up leading me to the back where all of the formal attire were hung on a dozen racks.
He supposedly had trouble finding my order causing him to take his sweet time conveniently trying to make conversation with me during his search.
Nico stood beside me rolling his eyes as the young man tried to shoot his shot with me only to be failing miserably as I continued to respond with a "Ummhmm" or "no".
Now as he finally found my order after ten long minutes, before I could grab the covered materials Nico stepped in front of me and quickly snatched them from the man's hand.
I said a quick thank you as Nico began to pull me to the front.
"Wait!" He called out making me turn around.
I gestured for Nico to give me a second and he let go of my hand but chooses to stand by the door and wait.
The blonde boy was hunched over a small desk in the room scribbling on a sheet of paper.
"Here! This is for you...in case I don't get to see you at the ball tonight. But I doubt I'll be able to miss the prettiest girl there." He said handing me a paper with his number on it.
I narrowed my eyes at him.
"You're bold-" I said simply only for him to cut me off.
"Oh, my name Aston. But you can call me Mate." He said with a smirk.
I quickly grabbed his arm that was still out holding the pieces of paper and twisted it behind his back then pushed his chest onto the desk.
His face was now smashed against the desk as he struggled to get free.
"You didn't let me finish," I said close to his ear.
"As I was saying...that boldness might get you killed one day."
I leaned off of him and began walking to the door.
"Keep the number for someone who needs a Mate. I for one don't have one." I said bitterly as I walked out.
We were able to leave the shop smoothly having already paid the day before. I could feel Nico's eyes on me the whole walk to the parking lot.
Finally giving in I turned and caught his weary gaze.
"What?" I asked.
"Back there...did you mean-" he began.
"Yes, I meant what I said."
"But what about A-" he began confusingly.
"It doesn't concern you Nico just drop it," I said sharply.
I was getting more and more crabbing as the day went on and this conversation wasn't helping one bit.
"No it doesn't but it does concern you. And you're my friend Artemis, you can talk to me if somethings bothering you." He said making me turn and face him fully.
"You've been acting moody all day did something happen with you and Alpha Celest?" He asked curiously.
"You're right Nico. We are friends and I would like to keep it that way so just drop it." I said softly.
