Artemis
I woke up in a cold sweat. The moonlight passed through the window casting its lights upon my skin, making my caramel complexion look as if it was glowing. My heart was beating fast as if I was back there...in that car. I looked outside my window seeing the moon was almost full. I could never sleep well when the full moon was approaching.
Giving up on sleep, I gently hopped down from my bunk, seeing Apollo and Athena still sleeping quietly. I slipped on a pair of slides and went outside. We were at a rest stop somewhere in Texas, the final state of Apollo's tour. I found a large rock to sit on that was in a clearing not too far away from the tour bus. It seemed to provide the best view of the moon. It was beautiful, and the stars were out tonight.
In just a few days, everything would change. We would be starting over again. 23 states, 6 months on the road, and it's finally coming to an end. This had been our lives for the past 3 years, tours back to back, a concert almost every night, screaming fans, parties, and constant interviews. It had become our normal, but now Apollo wanted to take a break, settle down and reconnect with himself. I just don't know if I'm ready for a change when we were just getting the hang of this new normal.
I let out a scoff, "So you found me, huh?" I said with a small smile still looking at the moon.
"Always sis," Apollo said. I could hear the smirk in his voice.
I rolled my eyes as I felt a jacket be placed on my shoulders. I finally turned to face Apollo seeing that he was now sitting next to me, I gave him a confused look. He simply shrugged his bare shoulders and spoke, "It's chilly out."
I snorted, "We're werewolves, we don't get cold, you dork."
"Well excuse me for being a gentleman," Apollo said, giving me a light shove. I only giggled. We fell into a comfortable silence as we watched the night sky.
"Artemis?" Apollo said, grabbing my attention. Feeling his eyes on me, I turned to face him, making him continue.
"You understand why I want to take a break right?.... I mean music is my life, always has been, but I don't know. I feel like we've never truly been able to be ourselves. I'm tired of suppressing my wolf as if he's not a part of me, a part of us, Art!" he paused for a moment looking down into his lap.
"I-I wanna find my mate," he stuttered out. He looked at me with such determination in his eyes the moonlight made his green eyes twinkle almost appearing blue.
"I wanna find love again," he finished. My eyes widened as I felt Apollo's pain shoot through my heart.
He was now looking away from me and started feeling all of the details of the rock we sat on. That was Apollo though, always finding the beauty in everything, always hungry for more out of life.
A small smile formed on my face as I finally took the chance to look at my brother. He was wearing the tank top I had gotten him for our last birthday. It was tie-dyed blue and yellow and said "I heart Olaf" on it since Frozen was one of our favorite movies and Apollo had always reminded us of Olaf. As I looked down at the rest of his attire, I could see that his basketball shorts were inside out and that he was wearing a pair of flip flops that, at second glance, I realized were mine. Weird.
I put my hand on top of his giving it a light squeeze. "Hey?" I said grabbing his attention. When he faced me, I could see the sleepiness in his face. His hair was in its usual bun, but it seemed messier as one of the blond highlights of his midnight black hair was hanging lazily in his face.
Using my other hand, I gently moved the strand and tucked it back in the bun. Giving him a smile, I said, "I understand Pollo."
He gave my hand a nice squeeze back and pulled me into a hug while mumbling into my neck, "Thank you, Art.... for everything." I chuckled.
"There's no need, Just know you've always got me," I said, rubbing his back.
"Ahem! I think you mean us!" We quickly turned around to see our sister Athena. Her wild red hair was in two messy buns. Her black highlights made her red hair even more fierce. She wore a black crop top with an animated bunny in the middle, grey sweatpants, and a pair of UGG boots.
A chuckle could be heard as Apollo began to speak, "Of course Athena. Who can forget the glue that keeps us together?" Apollo said cheerfully as he pulled Athena up on the rock with us.
Athena simply rolled her eyes which earned her a twin sandwich. Apollo and I skillfully squished Athena between us attacking her face with kisses. "Ugh you guys are so annoying!" she said as she tried to hide a smile and a faint blush. That's our stone-cold Athena for ya, but they say love can melt a frozen heart, so she's lucky she has us!
"I could feel you guys' emotions all the way from the bus. What's got y'all so damn sentimental?" Athena said with annoyance in her voice, but a flash of worry crossed her grey eyes that made the little hints of green in them stand out for only a second but didn't go noticed by the twins.
"Aww was our loving little sister worried about us, Pollo??" I said in a baby voice, moving my face closer to her.
"I think she was Art," Apollo said mimicking my baby voice and pinching the side of Athena's cheek.
Athena quickly slapped away his hand and pushed my face back resulting in two identical pouts from Apollo and I. "How is it that you two are both 22 and still act like children! And to answer your question, no I was not worried. Your emotions were just so loud I was unable to go back to sleep," Athena finished, her nose twitching slightly as she rolled her eyes causing Apollo and I to share a knowing smirk with each other.
"Well Thena, we're sorry you're only 19 and yet act like you're going on 60," Apollo said, ruffling Athena's already messy hair.
I chuckled and turned to look back up at the moon as I spoke, "No need to worry, Thena. We were just talking about what's going to happen once the tour ends in a couple of days," I paused.
"And??"Athena asked impatiently. "Well....our Golden Boy is leaving us to find true Love!" I exclaimed adding a fake sniffle.
"What!?" Athena exclaimed, grabbing my arm.
I let out a laugh as I heard Apollo sigh. "Nobody's leaving anybody," Apollo said in an annoyed tone.
"No," I started, still captured by the moon's gaze, "Apollo's right...for once in our life" I paused to look at my siblings "We're each gonna find true happiness in a place we belong," I said with a smile.
We each released a breath that I didn't think we knew we were all holding and continued to stare up at the night sky.

Some time went by, and soon enough, the sun began to rise. We were now laying down on the rock, Athena had fallen back to sleep with her head resting on my shoulder. The sounds of her light snores reached my ear, feeling her breath tickle my cheek every now and then.
I was almost startled to hear Apollo's voice when he spoke suddenly, "Artemis?" "Hm?" I said softly to not wake Athena.
"I-I know you had that dream again," Apollo stated timidly. I felt my body tense making Athena stir in her sleep snuggling closer to me, calming me down enough to reply.
"Di-Did you see?" I said looking over to him to see tears in his eyes. "As if I was right back in that car," he stated as a tear fell.
"I'm sorry, I-I didn't want you to relive that," I said raspily, feeling my throat suddenly go dry.
"Hey there is no apology needed. We're connected, have been since birth. We feel each other's pain so we can help each other through it. Our connection goes so much deeper than any mate bond because you and me, Art...have been by each other's side from the very beginning. No search needed. We're each other's person," Apollo said with a smile that seemed to delay the upcoming Sun.
"Forever?" I asked. "Forever," Apollo said leaning across Athena, placing a kiss on my forehead. He laid back down and asked quietly, "Do you ever think about him...Dad?"
I looked at the fully risen sun that displayed the sky with colors that reminisced the night and spoke: "Every day, Pollo, every day," as a tear slid down my cheek.
