Markings on some paper,
Just jumbled letters forming words,
Doesn't matter the color of ink,
Doesn't matter what color of page.
These tales remain unheard,
Unless someone gives them meaning,
Lying silently, voices bound in hardback,
Waiting to be opened, waiting to roar.
To read, to imagine, to paint pictures with words,
To lose oneself in a far-off land,
Becoming the hero, villain, lover,
It's all personal between you and the pages.
So open a book, see what it has to say,
Read the story it's protecting inside,
Don't let it remain still and lifeless,
Don't let it be lost to obscurity,
Don't let these words remain, silent!
