Nameless faces in a crowd,
Features expressing every emotion.
Not knowing what's behind the eyes,
Could be hatred, could be devotion.
Stranger's profiles, seen every day,
Countless characters go by in a blur.
Then one, maybe two, beguile,
A niggling doubt that we've met before.
With a flash of nostalgia,
The cogs begin to adjust in my mind.
They look like childhood friends,
That I long since left behind.
Like carbon facsimiles,
Of distorted memories, I suppose.
Not even connected to each other,
Not descendants, not even close.
Doppelgangers, we all have them,
So there could be another me.
A handsome fellow, I guess,
Just have to wait and see!😉😁
