You were dark, rich,
Like unrefined coffee,
Full-bodied, pure, raw,
Tamed only by blending!
Oscillating, grinding, filtering,
To a smooth infusion,
Hot water added to create a thing,
Mocha aroma stimulates the senses!
I explore your dark pool,
Before I drink you in,
Awakening my psyche,
Re-animating my narcoleptic passion!
You keep me up at night,
Like taking too much caffeine,
Left tired in the morning, but,
Wanting a quick espresso fix?
Eventually, this will change,
Filtered down to a granulated instant,
Losing its life-giving jolt,
Becoming a forgettable fine blend!
Ah, but we'll always have Dark Roast!
