When I was younger,
And had no one to turn to,
When I felt left out, alone,
Your lips stole away my tears,
You were always there!

When we moved in together,
Finally tied our knot,
Expecting our bundle of joy,
You went into labor,
We were there for each other!

When we got home,
Became parents,
Sleepless nights, endless crying,
The note I found,
Where did you go?

When everything felt broken inside,
My tears fell free and unhindered,
My life had to change,
I had no one to turn to,

Our child's first smile,
Their first word, first steps,
Their first day at school,
Award for achievement,
Where you there?

On their first day at a new school,
Major exams passed,
First night out,
Their first heartbreak,
Where you there?

Their graduation,
Their first job,
Their marriage,
Our first grandchild,
Where you there?

Now I'm lying here,
Connected to machines
Surrounded by my lineage,
Life draining out of me,
