Something New

Part 15: she's not breathing

Stella was scared and so she dropped her keys, and phone and without even having time to react. She was hit and was knocked out.

She woke up after a bit, her head spinning, she had trouble opening her eyes. But when she finally did, she saw Kelly. He had clearly been beaten up, both his arms were tied up. And he was sitting on the floor, with blood dripping out of his face, but as Stella tried to get to him she realized she was also tied. She tried and tried but she was hurting herself more than anything.

"Kelly can you hear me"

And she heard him grunt a bit, he was semi conscious which was a good thing. So she felt a bit better, but not being able to get to him wasn't pleasant. Where she was there was not much light, and she just kept wondering where she was. She took a deep breath and just wished this would be over soon while she tried to untie herself.

After a little while, Stella started hearing footsteps. Someone was coming down, so she opened her eyes and quickly checked on Kelly. She could tell he was still breathing, he was just really weak.

She waited and to her surprise, the person coming down was a face she knew very well.

"Rafael?" She asked shocked.

"Yes, surprise its me"

"Why did you do this to Kelly?" She asked "and why am i here?"

"Oh oh Kelly? Yeah thats not my work, he'd probably be dead by now if i had been the one hitting him"

Stella was confused as to what he was saying "then who did this"

"You'll see, and trust me that you're in for a treat. I tried to warn you but you didn't want to listen to me." He lifted his shoulders up.

"Please untie me" she asked.

"No can't do" he said a bit amused. "I got strict orders to keep you like this for a while"

"I'm pregnant, you can't possibly hurt me like this"

"Well that's life, see you"

And so he left, without giving her any other informations. She was desperate, and she was just hoping for the best. She tried and tried and tried again to get Kelly to wake up.

It was already morning, Stella's mom was starting to get worried. She didn't even know what to tell Sky so she tried to keep the little one busy.

She kept trying to reach out to Stella but she couldn't. So she called the next person she knew about, Michael. Her ex husband.

"I thought after me giving you the divorce we'd be done"

"Look it what we both needed, doesn't mean I don't love you anymore. You did so much for me, but thats not the point"

"So why'd you call me"

"Stella left last night, she was supposed to go to the firehouse and then come back. But look at the time, she's still not back and not answering any of my calls"

"Calm down, i'm sure she probably stayed with this boyfriend of hers. She probably felt like she wanted to spend more time with him" he said to reassure her.

"No, she told me she was coming back. She would have told me if she wasn't coming back, she wouldn't leave Sky like this. Plus Kelly would have never wanted her to stay at the firehouse tiring herself" she explained.

"I can see if i find her, i'll go to the firehouse and see if she's here"

"You'd do that for me?"

"Look i might not have been the best always, and i might have treated Stella badly at some point. But you are my family, and divorced or not i love you and i will do anything to bring peace to you" he said and then left a kiss on her forehead.
