Chapter 3: Female Cubs

Rookie's P.O.V.

I opened my eyes to a dark world.

What happened? The last thing I remembered was running through the woods trying to get back to my home while bangs followed me.

I parted my jaws into a massive yawn and flapped my wings into a stretch.

The air was full of dust and smelled like mold. A scent I hadn't smelled in a while entered my nose.

Humans!

A curled my lip into a growl,. I hated humans. Stomping through the forest like they owned the world, polluting the air with their big, transportation monsters - wait a second!

I sniffed my fur and gagged. I smelled like a Fire-monster!

I looked around and saw a lot of human tools leaning on the walls of the den I was in. It wasn't like the big one most humans lived in, this one was like a storage area or like a cash for extra supplies. Sunlight entered a hole high above the ground in the wall.

Whelp, that's my way out.

I stood up and let out a yelp as pain seared through my side. I looked to see my shoulder covered in blood and felt tender whenever I so much as moved my neck. I now reinforce my case that humans are idiots, they couldn't even take a stupid death rock out of my shoulder!

Clanking sounded on the den entrance. I've heard humans call it a door or something, they're so weird.

Two female cubs appeared, though they seemed too old to still be taken care of by their mother.

'Do you think it's awake?' the one with brown fur on her head said. For some reason humans don't have fur anywhere but the top of their heads.

'Of course it's awake!' the one with brown skin hit the other on the back of the head. Maybe she was a different species. 'It's eyes are open!'

I may or may not have already said this, but I really hate humans. They're too loud and their high pitched voices make my ears hurt. These two kidnapped me and locked me in this stinking den! Someone's got to teach these two a lesson!

I bared my teeth and growled.

'Oh crap,' the one with brown skin said.

'Hey, hey, hey, hey!' the one with brown hair entered the den and crouched in front of me.

What the heck?! Wasn't this thing scared of me!?

I hunched my back and raised my haunches. This cub better back off. Injured or not, I still have a nasty bite!

'It's ok, we're not going to hurt you,'

'Oh sure!' I snapped which of course sounded like a bark to them. Humans are too stupid to understand the animal kingdom languages. I can understand them but they can't understand me. 'One more step and I'll rip your face off!'

I launched at her with a howl which quickly turned into a whimper as my shoulder gave out and I hit the rock solid ground.

The cub went to help me but I snapped at her hand which only made the pain worse.

I whimpered and backed away. The world spun around me as the throbbing quickly turned into white, hot pain.

'Luna! We've got to do something!' the cub on the ground said to the one standing at the door.

'How? It literally just tried to eat you!'

Her voice rang in my ears and made my head pound. No, I can't lose consciousness here, not with humans around. I've got to get back, I can't stay here.

I backed into a wooden pole and it hit my white tail. I yelped and jumped into the white cub.

She went to grab me but I stumbled to the ground and coward in a corner as my vision filled with mist. No, I can't... I have to get back....

I closed my eyes and hit the ground, the world disappeared completely.
