Chapter 20: Sun and Fire

Rookie's P.O.V.

They all stared at me.

What? I was hungry! It's not my fault some human left their slop out unprotected.

It was tasty and kind of burned my tongue but I didn't really pay attention, I'd drink some water later to cool it off. It had a salty taste to it, I was obsessed.

I realised I was being rude and backed away from the slop. 'You guys want some?'

The Luna looked like she was going to puke and the Aspen looked like she was going to suffocate herself from laughter. Leon just shook his head, grossed out.

I shrugged and continued eating as a male human stomped into the clearing, waving some kind of long stick with string on it at us. 'What are you kids doing on my lawn?! Get the hell out of here!'

We all ran in the opposite direction and kept running until the man and his yummy slop was out of sight.

The Aspen groaned. 'I wish we'd stop running!'

I wish I had eaten more slop.

'Thanks a lot Rookie,' the Luna snapped. 'Because of you we're lost and have nowhere to go with no food!'

'It's not my fault you didn't want any of that stuff.' I said smugly.

'What are you, 2?!' Luna snapped.

'Actually, I'm 5 months,' I shrugged.

Everyone froze. They couldn't tell if I was being sarcastic or dead serious.

'I may be a dog species but my age is in cat years,' I replied. '16 sun years in human years are 6 months in cat years. I'm 15 years old as a human so really I'm only 5 months old.'

'That was... unexpected.' the Aspen commented.

'I say we just rest here for the night and find a place to stay in the morning.' Leon announced.

Everyone agreed and we flopped onto the ground where we stood and fell asleep almost immediately.

I opened my eyes again to a dark space but I could see easily.

I stood up and stretched, I was a wolf again!

I was so happy I did a little prance around the spot before looking around. I was in a dark hallway made from black marble with different pedestals on either side with a large, raised platform at the end.

I cautiously walked forward and looked at the statues on the pedestals. On one side was of humans with glowing, purple eyes and on the other was of people with different coloured glowing eyes.

Everyone on my right was in dark clothes or black cloaks but as I analyzed the left I noticed something, they all had different abilities.

A boy with spiky blonde hair and glowing red eyes had small explosions going off in his hands and next to him was a boy with spiky red hair and cracks in his rock skin. Next to him was another boy also with red hair but the other half was white and he had opposing, glowing eyes. One of his hands had ice on it and the other was consumed in fire. After him was a guy with brown hair in a ponytail and water coming off of his hands.

All down the hallway was full of people similar to them (not all were boys).

I came to the raised platform and slowly walked up the stairs and gasped. 6 people were on 6 different platforms. Chris, the Luna, the Aspen, Leon, human me, and a human version of Zurjo with black hair and glowing purple eyes.

Leon, Chris, and Zurjo were all on the left side wearing black and had glowing red eyes while human me, the Luna, and the Aspen were on the left.

The Aspen's eyes were glowing aqua blue and she looked straight forward as if staring into my soul. The Luna's eyes were glowing green and one of her hands was holding black smoke blob while the other was holding a storm cloud. Human me's eyes were glowing bright blue and lightning shot around my hands.
