Rookie's P.O.V.
I watched the Aspen as water leaked from her eyes. What the heck was going on?
I just sat there awkwardly as the water continued to run down her face. with her eyes starting to get puffy.
'What are you looking at?' she snapped, wiping the water away.
'You, there's no one else here,' I said.
A scream echoed in the darkness.
We both looked at the entrance of the cavern.
'Luna,' we said in unison.
The Aspen darted to the entrance and I picked up Zurjo with my teeth and charged after her on all fours.
'She's near the road!' the Aspen exclaimed as the screams got closer the more we ran.
'The road?' I repeated through a mouthful of fur.
'Yeah the road, where cars drive.' the Aspen said, like it was obvious.
'What's cars?' I asked.
The Aspen stared at me. 'Nevermind.'
We continued running and we broke into a clearing. The scent of blood hit my weird human nose. Even with a weak one like this, this much blood could be smelled a mile away by a nose blind beaver.
The Leon was unconscious against a tree. His arm was covered in blood and a slash mark was on his forehead. I ran up to him and sniffed him.
'He's alive,' I said. 'But barely.'
'Where's Luna though?' the Aspen demanded.
I raised my face and a flash of a familiar purple light appeared in the dark trees.
'This way!' I snapped and barged into the trees.
I stopped, stunned as a horrific sight came into view. Again, blood was everywhere. Splattered against trees, dripping off rocks, and seeping into the grass.
The Luna stood in the middle of the clearing staring wide eyed at a man with black hair and golden and a hint of navy blue eyes, floating above her.
'Um, did the Leon clone himself or something?' I asked, twitching my ears.
'No, it's his twin,' the Aspen said.
'How nice,' I replied.
We ran up to the Luna and looked at the man.
'I'm gonna kill him,' I grumbled. This bitch was going to pay for turning me into a human.
'You can try,' he responded. 'But we all know what happens when you disobey me, don't you Midnight?'
'Midnight?' the Luna and Aspen stared at me.
'Shut the fuck up,' I snarled and set Zurjo down. 'You don't know anything about me,'
'You'd be surprised,' he smirked.
'Turn me back, now!' I snapped, getting straight to the point. 'I don't like being a human, I don't want to be!'
'Now is that any way to talk to papa?' he asked smugly.
'Papa?' the Luna and Aspen stared at me again. 'What the hell?!'
'Shut the fuck up!' I snarled.
'I see you're learning some human words, I'm very proud of you.' he smirked. 'Too bad you weren't as trusting with me.'
'I'm gonna kill you!' I shrieked. 'YOU ASSHOLE!'
'And another one!' he cackled. 'I don't think I will turn you back, you're learning too much!'
I snarled and Zurjo bared his teeth under me. He pounced forward.
'Zurjo, no!' I yelled.
He launched into the air and grabbed the man's leg with his jaws.
'The hell?' he grumbled and tried to kick him off.
Zurjo fell to the ground and I caught him, licking his ruffled fur as he shivered. Even for a cat he was never very fond of heights.
The man laughed again and disappeared into thin air, not leaving a trace behind.
Suddenly, Leon stumbled into the clearing and stared at me with wide eyes.
I glared at him.
'You remembered,' he said defeatedly.
'What the fuck,' the Aspen grunted.
'Of course I remember you, you bastard!' I snarled and walked up to him.
'Let me get this straight,' Luna shoved herself between us and looked at me. 'Is that dude your dad or something?'
I looked at the ground, infuriated. 'Shut the fuck up.'
'Yes,' the Leon replied. 'And I'm her uncle..'
'WHAT THE FUCK?!' the Aspen exclaimed, even louder this time.
'Explain.' the Luna demanded and looked at me.
'I'm that dude's daughter,' I grunted. 'The Leon's my uncle-'
'What the fuck is up with you and saying "the" before people's names?' Luna snapped.
'She doesn't entirely know human customs.' the Leon said.
'Oh shut up! You helped him make that thing!' I snapped.
'Wait - what happened to your mom then?' the Aspen interrupted.
'Mom?' I replied. 'What the heck is a mom?'
'YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT A MOM IS?!' the Aspen screamed.
'A person that gives birth to you,' the Leon explained.
'Wait -' I said. 'Does that mean the Chris is my mom?'
'WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW?!' the Luna and the Aspen exclaimed in unison.
'No!' the Leon exclaimed and rubbed the bridge of his nose. 'Chris created her using chemistry.'
'That explains the wings.' the Luna said.
'I am so confused right now,' the Aspen said.
'You just explain this!' the Leon pushed me forward.
'Fine,' I grunted. 'My dad is Leon's twin, Leon's my uncle. Chris created me when he was 14 using chemistry. Ever since then, he's been using chemistry to do other illegal projects. He's accomplished supernatural powers because of that. He's not technically my dad but still, no one else took care of me or raised me.' I shrugged. 'Though he did use his own DNA in the process - you know what? It's complicated. I ran away when I was 14, been on the run ever since. I met Zurjo a couple months ago near a FireMonster path. That's pretty much the story of my life.'
They looked at the Leon.
He shrugged. 'That sums it up.'
'I think I'm gonna faint,' the Luna said.
'I can double that.' the Aspen squeaked.
