~ for what it's worth ~

"It's your round."

"No, it's not."

"It literally is, I just got this one."

"No, I got this one."

"I am currently drinking a white wine spritzer, Maria. You would never buy this for anyone."

I looked at my friend with a confused glare, my eyes narrowing as I wracked my brain over the possibility that I did in fact buy that drink for her. I ran my tongue over my teeth and pouted my lips when I realised that it was my round after all. "Oh," I mumbled, turning in my stool to get the bartender's attention, which mostly consisted of me waving my arm obnoxiously in hopes that he would see me.

"My God, you're so gone," Molly shook her head, finishing off her drink. "You need to slow down, sweetheart, you're not going to be able to make it to a taxi tonight at this rate."

"Hmm... Not if I have my bestest friend in the entire world to help me get into said taxi," I hummed at her, batting my eyelashes and teasingly finessing the conversation. Molly just rolled her eyes and laughed at me, meaning I was definitely off the hook for drinking more than I had planned to originally.

"Okay, okay, just buy us more drinks before I find myself some dick and leave you on your own," Molly pushed me a little.

"I am, bitch," I told her with a slurred laugh as I finally got the bartender's attention.

"Sorry, love, got a lot of people in here today. You having the same?" The bartender asked me, flicking his eyes over to Molly after that.

"Literally... just... get us both a double vodka lemonade," I gestured to the two of us, shooting a smile over at the bartender, who just nodded and got to work on putting our drinks together.

"A double? Are you trying to get me absolutely slaughtered?" Molly asked with a laugh. I just shrugged, resting my chin on my fist as I rested my elbow on the bar surface.

"There's nothing stopping us when we get too far," I simply told her.

"Maybe you can do that, Maria, but some of us aren't that alert and self-aware," she rolled her eyes. "Anyway, speaking of dick..." She trailed off, turning her body half in my direction so she could look at me properly. I grimaced and glared at her out the corner of my eye as the bartender placed our drinks down in front of us and removed the empty glasses that were already there. "How was... You know..." She used her hand to encourage me to understand what she was talking about and I wasn't too far gone that I didn't know what she was talking about.

"Oh," I sighed, sitting up straight and taking a sip of my drink. "Last week?" Molly nodded. "It was... meh..."

"What do you mean 'meh'? Your flings are never 'meh', that's why they're flings!" Molly exclaimed in shock.

"She wasn't very interesting to shag, Molly, I don't know what to tell you..." I almost whined, lowering my voice as to not attract unwanted attention from people who may be sat around us with opinions that conflicted with ours. "She took forever to actually finish, I felt like my fingers and tongue seized up – I swear I'm still in pain..." I brought one of my hands up to rub at my jaw.
