A/N
Thought I'd give you a quick update since the last chapter took so long to get out. Just to make up for it. The next few chapters may be a little short since they're more like filler chapters, but I promise it's all going to come together :)
Once again, I seem to have a lot of silent readers--it would mean a lot to me if you were to give me your thoughts throughout and give me your predictions for what you think will happen in later chapters. I LOVE reading through your comments, I NEVER miss a single one.
We do have a Discord server where other readers of my content talk occasionally, so if you feel more comfortable interacting there, then head to the link in my bio.
Also consider supporting me on my Cash App, if you are unable to purchase a copy of the paperback version of Peace Lovin' Guy. You would be helping me out a lot more than you think, even if it's a few quid.
Every link you need is in my bio!
Anyway, I've rambled on for long enough. Shuffle the Get Your Heart Beating Playlist on Spotify and enjoy the chapter!

~ hustle and bustle ~
November 17th, 1975 – Bristol, England.
"You have to keep it around your neck, or they'll be on you."
Reid's impatience was palpable as he exhaled with a huff, his fingers reaching around to fiddle with the backstage pass hanging around my neck. I reacted quickly, seizing his wrist to put a stop to his meddling.
"I have hands, John, I can do it myself," I muttered, slightly annoyed, as I adjusted the pass to face the right way.
He continued to follow me down the crowded corridor, his irritation evident in his voice. "Why are you snapping at me? You know very well that you don't need to be here if you don't want to be."
I shot a quick glance over my shoulder, my eyes meeting his for a fleeting moment, before I rolled them at his comment. The tension between us seemed to thicken with every step we took toward the lads' dressing room.
"Um, I do need to be here, actually," I retorted, my voice laced with a touch of Northern defiance. "I don't know if you remember Freddie's little temper tantrum at the idea of me not being able to get backstage, or even be here."
Reid seemed exasperated, his frustration boiling over as he questioned my behaviour. "Jesus, Maria, why are you being like this? What the fuck is the matter with you today?"
I quickened my pace, eager to reach Freddie and escape Reid's incessant prying. "Am I not allowed to be in a fucking bad mood? Do I need your permission to be in a bad mood too?" I snapped back, my words sharp and tinged with irritation.
In truth, the reason behind my sour disposition was the absence of my usual fix. The morning had slipped away, and I didn't wake up until well into the afternoon. The sound of the telephone ringing woke me from my slumber, and it was Reid passing on a message from Freddie, who insisted that I had to attend their show that night in Bristol because "we're four dates in, darling, and you haven't attended a single one!"
