A/N

One more chapter after this. Please let me know what you think throughout, I love hearing your feedback. I've noticed this fandom seems to be dying somewhat, and some of my frequent readers have vanished. Always bittersweet. I have a lot planned for this series, even though I'm currently in a constant state of Robert Plant Robert Plant Robert Plant Robert Plant lol.

Anyway, follow me on Tumblr (bijouxcarys). It's unhinged.

Annnndddd enjoy :)

1st September 1976 – Edinburgh, Scotland

Maria

At first, the concept of a mini tour was ridiculous. I mean, why put so much effort into production and energy into a tour that'll only last a couple of weeks? It made no sense to me.

But when I learned from Deacy that it was mostly to test the waters on certain songs from the upcoming album, it would be nonsensical to go ahead with it.

Besides, the last show of this mini tour would be a big one. And free. And not far from home. On the 18th, Hyde Park would be absolutely clogged with fans. It was going to be huge for Queen.

I was pleasantly surprised when we got off the bus for a small stop near the Scottish border that all the memories of my last visit came back to the surface. It marked the place where Brian and I took that walk in Dundee, the place where we officially decided to try again. Moments in my life that really defined that switch between my mental states.

That was when I decided that I loved Scotland, for all that it had offered me.

We were up in Edinburgh, backstage at the Playhouse Theatre. I was over the moon when Reid called me to tell me that he'd pay for me to go on this mini tour with the lads, with it being only around the UK and the shortest one they'd done in a while.

Brian had been especially clingy as of late. Giving me random kisses on the head—front, side, back, literally anywhere he could reach. Compliments left, right, and centre, no matter where we were or the situation. Of course, Brian was usually loving, but he tended to be a lot more private about such things. Not that it was an unwelcomed change; I rather enjoyed it.

The audience had started filling up the venue now, and the lads were busying themselves with their pre-show shenanigans. I looked on from my spot perched in front of one of the mirrors, excited to see another Queen performance, and with new songs. Though I didn't know which of their new songs they were performing quite yet; Brian was insistent on keeping it a secret from me.

Of course, this didn't go without constant pushing from myself all day, trying to convince him to tell me at least one song— "just one tiny little song." But to no avail. He didn't crack that easy, not even with me.

So, I waited with nothing short of anticipation, a permanent little smirk on my face. The same consistent smile that graced my lips three and a half years prior.

During the course of recording their new record, in which they had anointed A Day at the Races—a charming successor to A Night at the Opera—Roger had gained a new roadie. Crystal, his name was. He was young, very enthusiastic about...well, being a roadie, I guess.
