Hours later, late afternoon
Drive back to Seoul

The change of scenery through the long drive kept Lisa occupied. Jennie had not yet uttered a single word since they left Busan. The thai wondered if this had something to do with the sudden arrival of their mother. Well, of course, it had. They hadn't seen each other for a couple of years now.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Lisa gently asked. Chahee had stayed in Busan. The taller brunette seemed to get along with their mother, infuriating the shorter one.

Jennie only shook her head, clutching the steering wheel tight, her eyes on the road. Lisa tried to cheer her up by mentioning Yo Yo Ma's coming concert in Seoul a month from now. But the brunette only smiled for a couple of seconds and then she was back to her usual mute self.

Days later, late night
Chahee's apartment

Lisa was preparing a vegan dish she learned from YouTube for their dinner. Jennie was setting plates and utensils on the center table when the thau sucked up her courage and bring up the sudden arrival of Jennie's mother in their apartment this morning when Jennie was in her class.

"Your mother was here this morning," Lisa mentioned, without looking at the brunette.

She could tell Jennie flinch because she dropped a spoon hard on the plate. "What did she want?"

Lisa sighed deeply and answered, "She... wanted to talk..."

Jennie only pursed her lips and went on pouring wine into their glasses quietly as if Lisa didn't bring up the subject.

When Lisa sat beside her and they started to eat, the brunette then chatted about the Yo Yo Ma concert and said that she already bought them tickets. Their chatter eventually died as they watched a movie on Netflix. After a few moments, Lisa suddenly blurted out.

"She said she was sorry."

"What?"

"Your mother. She said she was sorry."

"Yeah, well, sorry cannot take back what she had been doing for the past years."

Lisa swallowed. "Maybe she really is sorry, Jen. Maybe she has a reason-"

"Oh, so you're now siding with her? Why? So you can get her blessing? Did she put you up into this?"

"What? No, of course not, Jen. I'm on your side okay. I just.. can't you just let her explain why she left? Not forgive her instantly. But you know, just talk-"

Jennie abruptly stood and left the living room, now heading towards her bedroom.

"Jen," Lisa said, standing up and following her girlfriend. "Jen, you haven't finished your dinner-"

"I'm not hungry anymore," Jennie snapped then closed her door with a thud. Lisa turned the doorknob but it was locked. She knocked repeatedly but to no avail.

The next day, lunchtime
Cafeteria, University of Seoul

It was their first fight as a couple. Lisa realized she shouldn't have meddled into their problems. But wasn't that what girlfriends were supposed to do? The thai didn't want the brunette to think she didn't care. But she didn't want to step over the line, of course.

Jennie still avoided Lisa during lunchtime and chose to sit with Jisoo and their classmates. The thai suddenly felt so bad about herself, she lost her appetite. Rosé began to notice. But Lisa didn't want to share about Jennie's mother. It was the last thing she wanted to do.
