It was already dark outside when Lisa's phone rang. It was an unknown number. Lisa dwelled on picking it up for a few rings before she finally caved in.

"Hello?"

The person on the other end didn't answer immediately, hence why Lisa added:

"Who's this?"

"I don't know how to say this in the least creepy way possible, but Jennie is passed out on my couch"

"What?"

"I'm Hani, by the way"

Hani? That name rang a bell. Even though she wasn't sure, Lisa still tried, her voice coming out uncertainly.

"Hani Ahn?"

"Yes. You remember me?" The older girl said in a tone that showed genuine curiosity.

If she remembered her? How could she not? There had been a period of time when her name had been Jennie's favorite word. It was always "Hani did that" and "Hani told me that". Lisa remembered being so jealous of the older girl that one day she had been one second away from brutally interrupting Jennie in the middle of a story about, you guess it, Hani.

What made her angry the most, though, had been the fact that for a good two years she had been oblivious about why the mention of her older look-alike made her blood boil in her veins.

She had told herself that it was normal to have that sort of admiration towards pretty, older girls who spent a lot of time at your house. There was nothing wrong with that.

When Hani made her aware of why exactly Jennie was laying unconscious on her couch, that's when Lisa realized she had been wrong. About everything.

Hani had told her their story briefly, without going too much into detail. Lisa imagined it was because telling it was as much of an awkward experience as it was listening to it. But more than awkward, Lisa felt a rage building up inside her. With the knuckles of her right hand white, she was squeezing her phone with so much strength she wouldn't be surprised if she'd break it.

"I imagine this is your first time hearing about this?" Hani said, after having ended her story telling.

Lisa only managed to let out a feeble "yes", not trusting herself enough to add anything after it. She was sure that whatever she would have said would have been not only be unfit to the situation but also unfair to each person involved.

"She's not the type to tell her friends, is she?" Hani then said. By the tone of her voice, and the dry chuckle that left her mouth, Lisa wasn't sure wether she had been talking to her or to herself. In doubt, she said nothing.

The silence on the line was suffocating. Both girls were keeping themselves to say what was on their mind. Lisa was glad the conversation wasn't happening face to face.

"I don't have my driver's license. Nor a car. So if-"

Lisa tried justifying herself but Hani didn't let her finish.

"That's not why I called"

Lisa was taken aback for a second, struggling to speak her mind. When curiosity got the best of her, she finally said:

"Then why did you?"

"I have to tell you something I've been meaning to say for a long time"

There was another long pause. Lisa had been sweating cold since the beginning of the call. She could feel the unpleasant feeling of her shirt sticking to her body.

"Jennie's in love with you"

As soon as she heard those words, Lisa let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. Just like that time in the ocean, her lungs hurt. She had made it to the surface, yet she felt like she was about to be dragged down again.
