Ch. 16 "Understand"

                                                    Harper POV 

It has been two days since we've been back, I was sitting in the lab, Bruce left long ago, the only light on was the one in the corner where my desk is, 

I had my elbow on the table and my chin in my hand as I looked through the computer, 

I sighed 

I was looking at my resignation at Harvard, 

I sighed again, 

If I do this there is no going back, no more Massachusetts, no more Harvard, 

"What are you doing up so late?" A voice said beside my ear 

Which caused me to jump, 

I turned my head in the direction to see Me and Steve are now nose and nose, he was awfully close, 

He smiled at me clearly amused at making me jump, 

"Sorry didn't mean to scare you," He said chuckling 

"You didn't scare me, you just startled me," I said 

"Sure," He said smirking clearly not believing me 

He's now behind me looking over my shoulder, 

"Resigning?" He asked 

"Yeah, Tony said I might as well since I've been here so long," I said 

"Not a bad idea, you don't really wanna go back do you?" He asked as he rested he chin on my shoulder, 

"Not necessarily, its just..." I trailed off, 

"What?" He asked 

"Well I've been working at Harvard since I graduated that's all I've known," I said 

"Yeah, but working here isn't all that bad is it?" Steve said 

I chuckled 

"Of course not," I said 

"So what's making you hesitate?" He asked as he wrapped his arms around me from being, 

"I don't know I guess if I submit this it will make it that much more real," I said 

"And what's so bad about that?" He whispered next to my ear that literally sent shivers down my spine, 

"I.. I uh," I said becoming flustered 

I don't really get flustered but this was, 

Steve pulled my hair to the side, 

"I'm sure there are a few things here that you didn't get at Harvard," Steve said as his lips trailed across the skin of my neck, 

It sent goosebumps across my skin, 

His lips went lower to where my neck met my shoulder, which made me let out an unfamiliar noise, 

Suddenly I'm spun around in the chair my arms wrapped around his neck as he backed me up against the wall, 

My fingers tangle in his hair as his lips connect roughly against mine, Steve pressed me up against the wall further, his hands running up and down my sides, 

We soon parted Steve pressed his forehead against mine, 

"I know you've got smarts that I can't remotely understand, and I know you do have some family problems I couldn't possibly understand, But I want this," He said 

"Steve I-" I began 

"Wait before you answer, I know you burred yourself in your work, and haven't had any kind of relationship before, But I haven't felt like this for anyone not for a really really long time, please just give-" Steve began 

But I kissed him just to shut up, 

"My answer is yes knuckle head," I said chuckling 

He smiled down at me since I'm a bit smaller than him for someone wearing heels, 

He kissed me again, 

"Good," He said
