Ch. 18 "Sleep"

                                               Harper POV 

Should have known this was coming due to the lack of sleep, yup, I'm sick, not just sick but flue sick, 

Steve has been very helpful staying with me, even sleeping in the bed at night to make sure I actually sleep, I told him I'm fine and I don't want to get him sick and he just chuckles and says he's a super solider and can't get sick, 

It was early morning and I was in a deep sleep, when I heard a buzzing sound from my night stand, 

I groan waking up from sleep, my eyes still shut I reach for the phone, only to come in contact with a hands, 

"Shh, go back to sleep," I hear softly behind my ear, 

Too tired to argue my arm gives and is now hanging over the bed, 

                                           Steve POV 

I have been taking care of Harper since she's gotten sick from not getting enough sleep, Bruce said she's got the flue, 

Probably from her immune system being down from not enough rest, 

I looked down to see her sleeping peacefully on my chest, 

I have been making sure she's eating right and sleeping, sure I don't mind being her pillow, but I am very concerned due to the circles under her eyes, 

Then a loud buzzing noise came from the night stand, 

She groaned rolling over feeling for the phone, I reached over placing my hand on the phone, her hand was now on top of mine, even her hands were hot due to the fever, 

"Shh, go back to sleep," I whispered, 

She sighed at my whispers, and her arm dropped too tired to argue, 

I kissed her temple, taking the phone that was now ringing again, 

I looked at the ID, it said Mom, 

I slowly got out of bed trying not to wake her, and walked out of the room, quietly closing the door, 

I answered the phone, 

"Well it's about damn time you answer!" He mother said 

My eyes widen at how her own mother talks to her, 

"Excuse me," I said sternly 

The woman must have been extremely confused, because she paused, she didn't say anything for a few minutes, 

"Who is this?" She said a little more politely 

"Steve, I work with Harper," I said sternly 

"Oh, can I speak to my daughter," She said with a calm and nice voice, 

Okay I see what this woman is about, 

"She can't right now, she's sick with the flue can I take a message?" I asked 

"Are you sure she's sick? she could be faking,"She said 

Oh this made my blood boil, I never wanted to hit a woman so badly, 

"I am sure ma'am," I said trying to control my anger, 

"Just tell her to call me," She said 

I wanted to tell the woman off, but I also didn't want to cause more trouble for Harper, 

"I will," I said sternly 

With that she hung up,

"How could someone like Harper, smart, beautiful, kind, have a mother like that?" I thought, 

Tony was walking by seeing me looking at the phone, 

"You okay Cap?" He asked 

"Just talked to Harper's mother," I said with crinkled eyebrows, 

"Ah, a ball of sunshine isn't she?" Tony said 

"If that's what you want to call it," I said 

"Now what are you doing with her phone and outside her room for?" Tony asked 

"I-" I began

"Sir, it seems Hartely's fever is rising at a rapid pace," FRIDAY interrupted, 

We both looked at each other worried and entered her room full of worry,
