Ch. 35

                                                  Harper POV 

You are currently in the car with Tony outside you're family home. You decided you have to give them one last chance. 

"You sure about this?" Tony asks 

Yeah." I say as I look out the window. 

You're mom called yesterday about this family reunion thing. You were set on not going but she was being so nice and polite so you figured you should at least go. Tony had business in Massachusetts so we took a private plane and drove. He was going to the collage to do his yearly presentation my house is on the way. 

No one knows about the secret I've been keeping not even Steve. I still haven't had the chance. 

"Okay just call me if anything happens alright." He says 

I nodded getting out of the car. 

He was looking at me worried. 

"It's okay Tony I'll be fine." I say 

He looks at me like he doesn't believe it. But eventually nods and drives off. My shoes click on the pavement. Staring at the front door. I take a deep breath and knock. I didn't tell Steve because he had another mission today so why worry him. 

The door swings open. 

"Oh sweetheart we didn't think you would come." Mom says 

This is beyond strange, What changed in them? Have they finally realized me cutting them off was because they were using me and treating me horribly . 

"Come on in." She says with a big smile. 

I walk in seeing a lot of my aunts and uncles, cousins, second cousins. it was a full house decorations. Lots of food. 

Evan comes walking towards me giving me a big hug. This is weird is there a gas leak in here?

"Good to see you sis." He says with a smile

"Uh yeah you too." I say 

"Come sit grab some food I'm sure you're hungry after that drive." Dad says 

"No I'm okay." I say as I sit down 

"So tell us how fun is it working with Shield and the avengers?" Dad asks 

"I like it, It's more relaxing." I say with a small smile 

I was tense at first but I'm finally able to relax now. 

"What do you do there?"Mom asks sitting next to dad

"I'm lab assistant and Tony's secretary." I say 

"At the same time? Wow." Evan says 

"Yeah, But I really like it there." I say 

"That's good we're happy for you." Dad says 

"So do you think you can get you're brother in there?" Mom asks 

It's almost like everything froze. 

"Umm sorry that's not my place." I say 

"But you are friends with Tony Stark right? I'm sure he wouldn't mind." Dad says 

Is this why they wanted me here. To get my brother in at the tower. Maybe it's my hormones or I'm just so sick of this crap but I stand up. 

"I think I'm gonna go." I say 

"What the hell is wrong with you we are just asking for a favor!" Dad yells 

And I knew it was too good to be true they will never change. I wasted my time thinking they will ever change. 

I just keep walking im out the door when mom back hands me.It shocks me. 

"You are so ungrateful!!" She yells 

She tries to slap me again but I grab her wrist. Thanks to Natasha she's been slowly teaching me some self defense. 

I apply pressure and she grunts. 

"I am no longer the push over I used to be. I am done giving you three chances. As of right now we are no longer family. I am done with all of you." I say glaring at them my father and brother take a step back. 

I bend my mother's arm behind her back and push her at them and slam the door. the cold air hitting me in the face. I decide to walk to the park. When my phone rings I see it's Tony. 

I answer it. 

"Hey just got done with my presentation how is everything?" He asked 

I sigh

"Can you come and pick me up?' I ask 

"Of course I'm on my way." He says 

"Meet me at the park." I say 

"Okay." He says and I hang up sitting on the bench at the park.

I let out a breath why did I ever think they would ever change?
