Ch. 17 "Exhaustion"

                                                   Harper POV 

I hear my phone buzzing, my eyelids slowly flutter open, and sit up quickly, I must have fallen asleep, 

I looked around I'm in the lab still, I felt a bit off my throat hurt, it was excruciating just to swallow, but I shook it off, 

I hear the buzzing again, 

"Hello?' I said groggy 

"Hello sweetheart," I hear my father say 

"What do you want?" I said sitting up in the chair rubbing my temples as my head felt as if Thor hit it with a hammer, 

"I just wanted to let you know I'm out of prison and would like to meet with you if you don't mind," He said 

"Thank you for the offer but no thanks," I said 

"Oh I get it I really do my behavior was inexcusable," He said 

"But I realized I was in the wrong," My father said 

"No thanks," I said 

Clearly he was up to something, 

"Look just think about it," He said 

"I will," I said 

With that I hung up, 

I covered my mouth with my arm as I had a terrible phlegm couch, 

I stood up from the chair, after my couching fit, 

As I stood up Bruce walked in, 

He did a double take, 

"Have you been here all night?" He asked 

"Yeah," I said smiling at him as I chuckled 

"Don't worry I'll be back just need some coffee," I said 

"Harper that's not no good for you," He said 

"It's alright I'll be fine," I said smiling at him, 

"You don't sound fine," He said 

"Stop worrying," I said smiling at him, 

I walked out of the room frowning, thinking about what my father said, 

I finally make it to the kitchen, making a cup of coffee ignoring the ruckus I normally would acknowledge, but I was too tired, too out of it, and too confused to care, 

I grabbed my cup and made my way back to the lab, 

                                             Steve POV 

Me, Tony, Sam Thor and Bucky were in the living room, 

"Hey! I was watching that!" Sam said as Bucky changed the channel 

"Well you snooze you loose," Bucky said 

"Quiet I'm trying to enjoy my pop tarts!" Thor bellowed 

"I'm so glad i'm not hungover you three are so nosey," Tony said 

I just chuckled 

Suddenly there was a loud YAWN!! 

We looked in the direction to see Harper, she barley looks as if she's awake, she looks like she's sleep walking, 

"Hey Harper," Tony said 

She just simply YAWN!! loud again then walked out with a cup of coffee, 

"Did that seem strange to you?" I asked 

"Very," Tony said getting up 

I followed after him we walked into the lab, to see Harper, at her desk, she has her elbow on the desk while her chin was in her balled up hand, 

We could see her nodding off, but she was fighting it,  then suddenly she started coughing, 

I looked at Tony concerned, 

He nodded, 

"Harper," Tony said 

She slowly looked up at us, 

"You look exhausted," I said 

"I'm fine," She said 

"Oh no, you are about to fall over up now," Tony said 

"Tony I'm fine," She said looking at the screen, 

She continued to look at the screen, 

Tony walked over to Harper, and placed a hand on her forehead, 

"Just as I suspected, you have a fever," He said 

My eyes got wide, 

She pushed his hand away, 

"It's just a headache," She said 

"No it's exhaustion," I said 

"Come on Harper please," Tony said 

She sighed frustrated and stood up, 

"Cap could you.. while I take care of this," Tony said 

I nodded 

I guided her back to her room, 

Since she was still wearing her leggings and tee from bed from last night, she didn't have to get changed 

I pulled all the covers away, 

"Now come on you need rest," I said 

She nodded slowly 

She laid in the bed and I covered her with the blankets, 

"Steve.." She said just before I was about to leave, 

"Will you stay with me for a bit," She said tiredly 

"Of course," I said getting in bed with her and she snuggled into my chest, 

I smiled as I petted her hair,
