One of the easiest rule that Davina had was one of the most important one.

Never, under any circumstances be a fucking hero.

This was because heros end up dead in Gotham or if they stuck long enough they'll just helped create a whole new kind of villain who felt wronged for the hero in some way, and had a personal vendetta against it, and this usually end up poorly for the common folks of Gotham who only wanted to go with their days.

And besides no one on her family was fond of wearing tight spandex suits — they were not crazy, that was for Gringos with way too much free time

So don't breaking that rule was easy, you just had to look the other way a couple of time, and remember that you had more chances of making things worst than actually helping.

Like one of her Lela's neighbors.

He was new on town and in his first week he stumbled upon a poor fellow getting a beating.

Now usually the guys who were giving the beating would get bored after a while, and left the guy alone.

Yes, he would be severely hurt and with a couple of broken bones, but he would be utterly alive.

But her neighbor who didn't wanted to listen to her Lela's advice decide to interfere saying that he would call the police.

Wrong move.

The police did came.

Just that it did two hours later to pick up two dead bodies on the sidewalk.

You see? Acting like a hero didn't end good for no one.

And because of that Davina didn't break that rule even after she found out she was a meta.

Maybe if Davina had born and grown up in another city, she would had tried to be a heroine.

To help the poor and sick — it was them? She wasn't really sure how the said went

But she was born and raised in Gotham were there was a really good chance of her being burnd in the stake for being a Meta for the same persons that she tried to help — she had nightmares about it from time to time and she would wake up in a cold sweat and would go straight to the kitchen to tried to stop the trembling of her hands while cooking

Besides she knew that someway or another they would be people from both sides trying to get her to join their K-pop bands, and she had zero interest in that.

She did felt guilty sometimes — she wasn't a monster — watching the news, thinking that maybe she could help, maybe if she was discrete enough she could save even one life.

But she would remind herself that if she was ever caught it would probably not be her life the only one that would be affected.

Davina wouldn't risk her family safety for a stranger, it was cold and selfish but it was the truth.

So Davina just had to change the channel, and the next morning they wouldn't be people anymore, they would be numbers, not someone son or father or sister, just a number in a tragic incident.

But the problem now was that they were no longer number or strangers.

They had a name now.

It was Damián's name.

Or better said Robin.

Her Lela had all the reason, Rich people did cause more trouble that they worth it — no they didn't, damn it —
