Professor: Mr.Phillips

The class was silent

Professor: Is there a Mr.Phillips present?

Ace: Excuse me, What's the first name?

Professor: Ace Parker

Ace: That's me, hate to burst your bubble but I'm a woman.

Professor: Forgive me, what would you like to go by?

Yours

Ace: Ace Parker is fine

He continued with the role and I sank down in my seat after being called a "Mr." I got through the rest of the and started to head out.

Professor: Ms. Phillips, would you stay after class?

Ace: Yes sir.

What did I do now?

The rest of the class left and I slowly walked over to the Professor's desk.

Professor: I'm so sorry for the confusion. I hope I didn't embarrass you too badly.

Ace: It's okay Professor it happens more than you think.

Professor: You're very mature for your freshman year

Ace: And you're very young to be a professor. How old are you?

Professor:Twenty two

Ace: You're fresh out of college aren't you.

Professor: By a few years

Ace: Interesting, was that all Professor?

Professor: Yes, have a good evening.

Ace: You too.

Okay don't get me wrong I know how wrong it is for me to think about my professor in that way. But I know nothing will ever happen, so does it really matter?

I walked out of his class room and went about my day. I had a few things to do before work. Once I was done with my school work, I went back to my dorm and got dressed for work. I work in the library on campus. I do a lot of shelving books and checking them out. I was listening to music when someone tapped me on the shoulder.

Ace: Yes?

I looked up

Ace: Oh, Hi professor.

Professor: You know you can call me Max. After all we're not that far apart in age.

Ace: Alright. How can I help you Max?

Max: I'm looking for a book on literature. One that basically breaks down the meaning of Grapes of Wrath

Ace: John Steinbeck, that's one of my favorites.

I started typing on my computer.

Ace: This library is kind of confusing if you don't know what you're looking for.

Max: You'd think as often as I come in here I'd know where things are.

Ace: I could walk with you.

Max: I'd like that.

Ace: Try and keep up.

I got up and started walking to the back of the library and up the stairs to the second floor. Our library is huge and finding things is very difficult.

Ace: Is this for personal reading or for an assignment?

Max: Both, I do the assignments first to see if I think they're worth doing.
