Naruto lay on his hospital bed with a grim expression on his face. Satsuki was currently sleeping just beside him on his bed while snuggling into his chest comfortably.

The entire Uchiha Massacre ordeal has had a great impact on him. With a sigh he closed his eyes and soon he drifted into his mindscape to find the familiar oceanic view with the light of the twin moons illuminating the place.

"...You're back. I was expecting you" A familiar voice spoke up. Naruto turned to his left to see his Zanpakuto spirit standing on the surface of the ocean in all her glory smiling at him.

"Hn" Naruto gave her a small grunt of acknowledgement in return, "...Then you also know why I came here..."

Kurama grinned at him...It was the familiar bloodthirsty grin that Naruto had long since gotten used to, "...Yes. I do. You want to know about your Shikai. I see it in your eyes. The thirst for blood. The lust for battle. And the madness of rage...When you unlocked your Shikai you truly accepted who you were...Didn't you?" She asked him mischievously.

Naruto frowned at her. He wanted to deny it. He wanted to say 'no' that he wasn't a bloodthirsty...monster that the village claimed him to be. That he wasn't some battle junkie...demon. But...He couldn't find it in himself to deny her...It was now a part of him. A part of who he was. You can never deny yourself forever. So he accepted it. His dark side.

Naruto gave her a small nod in return. Her feral grin lengthened to almost face splitting proportions as she spoke, "...Good. Good. For years I have seen, you held yourself back. In fear of what will happen when you cross the bridge. In fear of what lies at the end of the tunnel. But you finally accepted your darkness. Now enough of that self-pitying. Listen well..." She took a deep breath in. Naruto took that as a sign that this was going to be a long conversation,

"As I was saying...From what I have seen, your Shikai gives you COMPLETE control over darkness. The things you make out of dark chakra become...real to some extent..." Realization dawned on Naruto's face as he remembered his wings. They were like...an actual part of his own body, "...Yes. That's why when Itachi slashed your wings you felt some amount of pain. You also gain the ability to control shadows...Like your classmate...Shikamaru, was it? You can now literally dissolve into shadows! How cool is that?! And your Zanpakuto gains the ability to cast illusions too! Dark Illusions to be exact! Like can you imagine?! You can literally give nightmares to your opponents while fighting them by just flashing your sword at them!! And your Darkness becomes more potent too! You can literally slash through diamonds!"

"...So basically...I become a slippery bastard who is really hard to hit because I can dissolve into shadows and cast illusions at my opponents from the shadows. And while they are dealing with the illusions I can hack through them with one slash of my sword...Cool..." Naruto mused to himself.

Kurama sweatdropped at his bluntness, 'A slippery bastard...Really now? That's all he has to say about his Shikai?' She thought with an awkward smile.

"...Listen Naruto...Let's talk about one part at a time. First of all, your dark chakra. When in Shikai, the things you make out of them become real...as in corporeal to some extent. Just like your wings...You initially made them out of dark chakra but when you made them there were only 2 remember?" Seeing him nod she continued the explanation, "...Yes. That's what I meant by the potency of your dark chakra. In Shikai mode the potency of your dark chakra increases by 6 times. That's why when you thought that you provided enough dark chakra to make only 2 wings, 12 wings came out instead. Like think about it as money. For instance let's assume that to get 2 wings out you need 2 units of normal dark chakra but in Shikai mode you can get TWELVE wings out of the same amount of dark chakra...Get it?"
