Naruto : The Shinigami's Screw Up

Awakening - Part 1

#Just to inform dear readers that this chapter is the continuation of the last chapter. Meaning that there is no time skip after the last chapter. And this chapter is also the first part of the next chapter...Come on guys, there are already 3400 words...Do you really want more in a single chapter?

"...So...Have you heard?"

"...Heard what?"

"...*sigh*A Kumogakure envoy is coming to Konoha for...peace treaty..." Satsuki whispered to Naruto as they tuned out Iruka's lecture in the classroom.

'...Huh...Ojii-sama will not hide such an important event from me...A Kumogakure envoy? For PEACE? Yeah right...That would be the day I wear an orange jumpsuit and scream about being Hokage on top of my lungs in broad daylight and have a crush on the pink haired banshee...' The red-streaked blonde though with a snort.

"...I...see..." Naruto whispered to Satsuki. He was about to ask about more details when suddenly he heard a very small 'beep' sound coming from his bag. Naruto's eyes widened momentarily before he put his hand inside the bag and found the small object that produced the beeping sound. He pressed a button and immediately the beeps stopped.

Oh dear...It must be an emergency. Naruto concluded.

The small object that had produced the faint beeping was actually one of the most modern marvels of the ninja world...In the shadows. It was a secret calling device. A radio caller does exactly the same thing...But it is quite big to carry and easy to notice. The minimized radio caller was just the size of a small marble. With a micro seal engraved in it by Danzo himself. Only 5 models were ever produced. With Danzo having the first one, Kage-Tora (Shadow Tiger, the ROOT vice-commander after Danzo) had the second one, Kage-Neko and Kage-Ookami (Shadow Cat and Shadow Wolf, the two lieutenants of ROOT had another 2) and the last pair was given to Kage-Kitsune, one of the higher ranking secret commandos in ROOT, otherwise known as Naruto Uzumaki.

The ROOT operated in the shadows...Unseen by the people, undetected by the 'surface-dwellers'. The ROOT considered themselves as a counterpart to ANBU. The darker, hidden form of ANBU. And so they derived their names from the ANBU Black Ops, with the honorable 'Shadow' or 'Kage' in front of their names that was unique to ROOT...

The first year of Naruto's training under Danzo taught him many things. Better chakra control, better maneuvering of his wings for a better and smoother flight, Genjutsu (Although till now Naruto can only make a single very versatile illusion, The False Surrounding Genjutsu), a long-lost sword style that matched Naruto's fighting style perfectly.

Death By A Thousand Cuts, was the name of the sword style that Danzo taught him. It makes your enemies bleed. One slash worth of this style are worth 10. Imagine...A single large slash divided into fragments of 10 smaller slashes that makes them bleed. And infuse them with some dark chakra for extra decay...You get a dead enemy, lot of blood and certain death due to internal decay of organs...

And something else...Something that truly made Naruto the apprentice of Danzo...The Vacuum Release. Wind is an interesting thing...When it is present there is air, but when it is absent there is vacuum.

There comes Naruto's problem...The darkness within him was like a void that sucks everything in...Naruto's original Nature Type was actually Wind. But...Since when he had unlocked Shikai, the darkness within him had grown...So much that it consumed the Wind Nature that Naruto had and converted it into Shadow.

When Danzo had given the chakra paper to him the paper had turned a pitch black in color before it had started to decay into black smoke...But as the saying goes...You can suppress something but you cannot completely remove something.
