Hayley's POV ||

I tucked a loose strand of my hair behind my left ear and chucked my phone into my bag.

I had just gotten back from visiting my mom for the weekend and it was good, yeah. I'd managed to forget everything that was running through my head for two whole days. But, I can't help but remember everything now that I'm back.

Kyle and Nathan were... are hiding something and I'm almost positive it was about me. A part of me ached at the thought of them meeting up behind my back. They've both known me well enough to know that whatever it is that they're doing, I wouldn't judge. All I'd like is for them to tell me. Is that so bad?

I didn't even think of pushing the thoughts of it away as I knew it would do not good. It was time i confronted them, or at least tried to.

I pulled out my phone from the back pocket of my jeans and pulled up "Messages".

- Kyle -

Me: hey, i just got back. u busy? can i come over or smthin

Kyle: sure im not busy. text me when ur here, ok?

Me: yeah okay

As exhausted as I was, I needed to see him - even if it meant me finding out something I'd rather not.

After approximately 13 long minutes, I arrived at the place Kyle lived. I had only been here once before but it hasn't changed one bit. It made sense that he lived here with two other guys since it'd be mental for him to be able to pay the rent for this place on his own. I could imagine the amount of zeros the rent consisted of.

I was about to knock of the door but decided to text Kyle instead. I mean, I wouldn't exactly want to walk in on him pleasing himself with a picture of Mila Kunis, would i?

Oh god, I've now got a vague imagination of that playing in my mind. Why on earth did I just allow myself to think that?.. Lord.

A minute after I texted Kyle saying I was outside, the door sprung open and there stood my best friend, with his brown hair all tousled.

'Hi!' he said, in a chirpy tone before bringing me into one of his bear hugs.

I couldn't conceal my confusion as I was a little weirded out by his actions, not to mention his mood.

'Well, aren't you a downer' he said, as I still hadn't spoken a word. He shut the door behind me and there I was, standing there aimlessly, feeling like a fool.

'Earth to Hayley?' Kyle waved his hands in front of my face. 'Are you okay? Did something happen to you?' No, but is something about to?

'Hello' I said, forcing a smile and i noticed the puzzled look on Kyle's face. 'Sit your bum down, I'll make you some tea' he said before disappearing into the kitchen.

I could hear noises from upstairs and I assumed that his housemates were here. I hadn't actually met them and couldn't help but wonder what kind of people they were. Were they cheery and happy? Were they the kind who'd spend time writing in journals? Were they the type to go to football games often? I couldn't help but wonder since that's how I've always been.

Buried in my thoughts, Kyle suddenly placed two mugs which consisted hot tea. My eyes were fixed on the steam that had been floating from the mugs. I then remembered that I'd meant to come here to confront Kyle and get something - anything out from him.

'Uh, Kyle?' My voice was soft.

'Hmm?'

'Is there something going on that I don't know about?'
