An: Thank you for reading my book 😊 Sorry for the long wait 😓
"Why are you here?" Chiron asked giving me a distrustful look.
"I'm here to get my missed classwork. Why are you here?" I asked trying to get his attention off me. He wouldn't believe me even if I told him.
"That is not what I meant. As you know, you were not here until a couple of days ago. Where did you come from?"
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you," I said sorrowfully.
"Try me," he said with a patient look on his face.
"Well, I'm not sure exactly. I went to bed one day in my bed and when I woke up I was here," I said somewhat truthfully. Hopefully, I don't need to tell him the whole truth. He would just think I'm crazy.
"Is that the whole story?" He questioned giving me a skeptical look.
I hesitated wondering if I should tell him. I know I can trust him, but would he trust me? What if he doesn't believe me? What then? Would he hand me over to the gods? Would he kick me out of Yancy Academy? I don't have anywhere else to go if he does. Am I just overthinking things? He wouldn't do that. Would he? I was so deep in thought that I didn't realize I was chewing on my nails, a habit I thought I'd grown out of, until I bit my finger. Chiron sighed which brought my attention to him.
"If you can't tell me, I'll just have to keep a close eye on you to make sure you aren't a threat to me or Percy."
"But how would you do that? Wouldn't it be weird if a teacher starts hanging out with a student all the time?"
"That's a good point," he said in deep thought. "I'll just have Grover keep an eye on you when I can't."
"But what about Percy?"
"What about Percy?" He asked instantly suspicious.
"If he asks me any questions about what happened at the museum, I might accidentally tell him something. I don't know if you know this, but I'm a terrible liar most of the time."
Chiron just sighed again and responded, "Just try your best. If he asks too many questions, just tell him to come talk to me."
I nodded to make sure he knew I heard him.
"Alright. That's all for now. You can go. Make sure you go straight to Grover and give him this," Chiron said writing a note to give to me.
I nodded again and made sure I had the note before leaving his classroom to go find Grover. I wandered around the school in search of Grover for an hour. I almost gave up when out of nowhere I was pushed to the ground by a random passerby who didn't even stop to make sure I was ok. My classwork was strewn everywhere across the hall. I frantically tried to pick up them all up before anyone stepped on them. I looked up to grab more papers to see two sets of hands holding the rest of my papers. I raised my head to see who it was and to my luck it was Grover and Percy.
"Thank you," I said gratefully grabbing the papers from them. "Oh, before I forget. Mr. Brunner asked me to give this to you Grover."
I handed him the paper so he could read over it. Percy, bless his heart, tried to read the paper over Grover's shoulder. I don't think he was able to read much because as soon as Grover finished reading it he crumpled the paper and stuffed it in his mouth. He then chewed it up and swallowed it. Percy gave me a confused look which I returned with a shoulder shrug.
"So Y/n, would you like some help with your makeup work?" Grover asked giving me a look.
"Are we just gonna ignore the fact that Grover just ate a piece of paper?" Percy interceded.
"Sure, I'd love some help," I said ignoring Percy's question.
"Guys?" Percy asked as Grover and I started walking in the direction of what I assume was the library. "Wait for me."
It was a good thing I said yes. I didn't understand a thing on that paper. Luckily for me, Grover was actually a very great teacher. The way he explained everything and was so patient made me wish all teachers were more like him. I thought I saw Nancy in the corner of my eye, but when I looked there wasn't any one there. I shrugged it off and continued my work. It took a total of three hours to finish everything. Mostly because we had to take constant breaks to entertain Percy because he kept complaining that he was bored.
After we were done, we went to the cafeteria to get dinner.* They were serving pizza and not like the usual school pizza. It was the good stuff meaning it had stuffed crust. We laughed and talked about lots of things. Not once did he bring up Mrs. Dodds. At least, not until we were about to part ways and go to our dorm rooms. Safe to say, I didn't expect it.
"Bye, Y/n. So you think Mrs. Dodds will be back tomorrow?" He asked studying my face to see my reaction.
"Who?" I responded after hesitating for a second.
"You hesitated," he noted.
"No, I didn't," I protested knowing full well I hesitated.
I gave Grover a desperate look for help to which he responded, "Hey Percy, we should probably go before we get in trouble. You know you can't get in trouble anymore unless you want to get kicked out."
With the attention now off me, I sighed in relief and waved to both of them goodbye. Percy had a look of annoyance in his face probably because I didn't answer him truthfully. I felt bad about it, but I can't change the book too much. I don't know what the concequences would be. I made my way back to my shared room with Nancy to find the room light already off. That's weird. It's not even that late.
I quietly opened the door just in case she was sleeping. I took a step into the room when the light suddenly turned on blinding me. When my eyes adjusted, I saw Nancy standing in the middle of the room with her arms crossed.
"Where have you been?"
