Chapter 24

The rain was getting really annoying. It needed to go away, but it did not. The trio decided to play hackysack, a game I could not participate in. I was more than happy to watch, however, because I would never beat Annie ever. She could be a professional. Percy wasn't that bad either I guess. Grover was, well, Grover so he just got a snack out of it.

The bus finally decided to show up so we got in line to board. Grover smelled the trio of granny's that were hanging around somewhere. I was not able to see them anywhere so I assumed that they were hiding. We really shouldn't get on this bus, but to get where we need to go we have to.

When we got on board, I was stuck at the front of the bus in the nice handicapped space while they all went to sit in the back. I tried not to scream when the three demon granny's boarded the bus. I attempted to hide behind my bag, but I'm pretty sure they noticed me. They sat in the front row right behind me. I hugged my bag and stared straight ahead afraid to turn around.

We hit the tunnel where it went dark and silent. I heard a rustling sound and then Mrs. Dodds number one.

"I need to use the restroom."

"So do I," said the second Mrs. Dodds.

The third one never said a word. I heard the two head down the aisle before the third spoke up.

"If you give it to me, I'll let you live."

"I don't have it," I wimpered.

"Then where did you put it?"

"I never had it," I replied grabbing my bag and the rail as the wailing began in the back.

"What-" Mrs. Dodds number three started as the bus jerked to the left.

I turned my head around just in time to see her slam into the opposite side of the bus. I hung on for dear life trying not to roll around too much. The bus swerved all over the road as everyone was tossed around in the back like a human salad. The bus screeched as it spun like a ballerina before crashing into the trees. The emergency lights flashed on and the door flew open for the entirety of the bus to run off.

The demon granny's regained their balance. The two in the back went back to hazing Grover and Annie while the one up front glared at me. I pulled the shield charm off the bracelet as she lashed her whip at me. It actually worked which was nice because I didn't get whipped.

"Hey!" Percy yelled out taking off the invisible cap which was dumb since there was a fury like four inches away from him.

All three of the furies turned to him. The one up front waited for her backups to arrive. They were really creepy crawling on the seats like some sort of lizard. I was disappointed neither of them did the lizard tongue flick thing.

"Perceus Jackson, you have offended the gods. You shall die." The one up front said.

"I liked you better as a math teacher," Percy said.

"Me too I guess," I added as Percy uncapped his magic pen.

"Submit now," Mrs. Dodds hissed hesitating. "And you will not suffer eternal torment."

"Nice try," Percy responded.

"Percy, look out!" Annie cried out.

The closest one lashed her whip around Percy's sword hand while the others jumped towards him. I was smart and stayed still behind my trusty shield as the trio fought bravely against the granny's from hell. When I was sure no one was paying attention to me, I put my shield away and rolled towards the door.
