An: thank you for reading my book 😀

During dinner, I was told that I would be playing capture the flag with cabin 12. I was confused on why I would be with cabin 12 instead of cabin 11 like all the other newbies. Actually why am I playing at all. I'm not even a half-blood? I thought as I finished my food. All the campers helped clear the tables.

The conch horn blew when the tables had been cleared and everyone stood at their tables. Except for me, obviously, since I still couldn't feel my legs. The campers cheered as Annabeth ran into the pavilion carrying a ten foot, gray banner with two of her siblings. The barn owl above an olive tree looked pretty cool as it waved around. They continued to cheer as Clarisse and her siblings ran out with their red one. Theirs looked pretty gruesome with the bloody spear and the decapitated boars head on it.

I saw Percy talking to Luke and realized that I was on the loosing side. Darn. I'll win the next one. Castor was explaining to me that the Dionysus cabin was allied with the Ares cabin along with the Demeter, Aphrodite, and Hephaestus cabins. I already knew all of that, but I thanked him regardless.

Chiron grabbed everyone's attention by stomping his foot on the marble and announcing, "Heros! You know the rules. The creek is the boundary line. The entire forest is fair game. All magic items are allowed. The banner banner must be prominently displayed, and have no more than two guards. Prisoners may be disarmed, but may not be bound or gagged. No killing or maiming is allowed. I will serve a referee and battlefield medic. Arm yourselves!"

Chiron spread his hands, covering the tables with so much equipment that I had no idea how to use. Pollux was nice enough to put my ill-fitted armor on. It felt two sizes too big. My helmet was at least three sizes too big. It kept falling in front of my eyes. I was then given a fancy bronze dagger with a grapevine design on it from Mr. D after he pointed at me. The twins shared a knowing look that I couldn't recognize.

Pollux was nice enough to push me in the direction of the north woods. Its a good thing I made that bet. I got some nice sturdy wheelchairs out of it. I thought as I came to a stop. I was positioned on one side of the flag with an Ares boy on the other side who did not seem to be happy that he was paired with me. I was not happy to be paired with him either. He smelled like he had never heard of soap.

"I can't believe I got stuck babysitting the cripple," He muttered angrily once every one left the clearing.

"I can't believe I got stuck with this jerk," I muttered back earning a glare that I returned with one of my own.

"What did you just say, cripple?" He snarled, taking a step towards me.

"I didn't say anything," I retorted with a blank face.

"Whatever," he said turning his attention back to guarding the flag.

After while of nothing happening, I saw Luke out of the corner of my eye. I glanced over and locked eyes with him causing him to freeze in place. Luke waited for around a minute before realizing I wasn't going to say anything to the Ares camper behind me. Shouldn't have been so rude. He grinned and positioned himself so that he could not be seen at all by the other guard. I, of course, watched him with amusement.

When he got into position, he ran soundlessly towards me. I didn't do a thing except give him a high-five as he ran past me after ha had already grabbed the flag. The high-five alerted the other guard who wasn't able to do much since Luke was already long gone by the time he turned around and realized the situation. They were gonna win anyways. Why even try? I thought as the Ares boy, whose name I never knew, yelled in my face.

"Why didn't you do anything!?!" He screamed getting an inch from my face.

"I'm just a cripple remember?" I mocked. I mean I would've done something, but his attitude pissed me off.

He actually growled at me like an angry dog. Before I could even realize what he was doing with his hand, I already tasted the metallic, coppery tang of blood. Luckily for me, my right leg chose that exact time to start working again. I kicked him right in his family jewels for three of his cabin mates to see. They, like him, got pissed at me, they started walking towards me as he curled into himself on the forest floor.

They froze in place when they heard the howl ringing through the forest. Not wanting to miss the action, I quickly rolled my way towards the creek that was very conveniently close by. I got to the creek just in time to see the red eyed, black hound standing on some rocks. I've never seen a rhino so I'm not sure if it's actually the size of one, but it was very large. And very angry. And staring right into my eyes.

Why is it looking at me? It's supposed to look at Percy. Unless it's not actually looking at me and I'm just experiencing a case of main character syndrome. I was snapped out of my thoughts as the hellhound sprung into action. It used Percy as a sort of jumping board to avoid most of the arrows shot at it. Percy went down like a sack of potatoes which would have been funny if it weren't for the huge rabid dog now running towards me.

I watched in shock and terror as the hellhound got gradually closer. It was like time had slowed down. I could hear shouts, but could not decipher what they were saying. I could not get my arms to work. I couldn't even let out a scream as it barrelled into me. Fortunately, it didn't have the chance to do anything before they let out a second volley of arrows. This time it wasn't able to jump out of the way of the arrows.

I let out a pained wheeze as the hellhound's carcass crushed me for a few seconds before it melted into the shadows letting me breathe once again. Everything stood still for a beat until Chiron and Annabeth were there kneeling beside me to check on me.

"Are you ok, Y/n?" Chiron asked, carefully picking me up.

Instead of answering him, I threw my helmet on the ground and wheezed, "Keep your dogs on a leash!"

Everyone looked at me like I was crazy when I did that. I mean I am, but they don't have to be so rude about it. Percy was by my side a moment later. He looked pretty banged up. He had some puncture wounds on his chest from where the hellhound's claws had gotten him.

"Percy, you might want to go into the water," I responded when he also asked me if I was ok.

"What?" He said bewildered.

I gave Annabeth my best puppy dog eyes and she took it from there successfully getting all the attention off of me.

"Percy, get in the water," Annabeth told him.

I could tell Percy wanted to argue, but I didn't let him. Sighing, Percy walked back to the creek and stepped in it. He instantly looked way better. His wounds started to close up resulting in some gasps from the campers.

"Look, I-I don't know why," Percy started to apologize. "I'm sorry..."

"Percy, um..." Annabeth pointed to the green holographic light shaped like a trident above his head.

Percy looked up just in time for it to fade away.

"Your father. This is really not good," Annabeth muttered.

"It is determined," Chiron announced.

All the campers started to kneel, except for me of course. I was still in Chiron's arms most likely forgotten.

"My father?" Percy questioned, confused.

"Poseidon," I said before Chiron was able to. "Earthshaker, Stormbringer, Father of Horses. Hail, Perseus Jackson, Son of the Sea God."

I've always wanted to say that.
