we arrived at the english class but unfortunately the door was already closed . i started panicking a little cause i didn't want to make a bad impression on my first day.

"okay nothing to be scared of, the professor is pretty cool so he's just gonna say few things about being late and continue his lesson." charli reassured me and then knocked on the door.

as we heard a 'come in' charli opened the door and i immediately felt everyone's eyes on me. not the best feeling in the world.

after charli made up a quick excuse we both started walking as fast as possible to take a seat and let the professor continue his lesson. but it didn't go as planned cause the professor had the great idea of introducing me to the class.

i was so embarrassed, i hated being in the spot light. for sure my face was turing many shades of red but i couldn't help it.

i faked a smile and then i said: "uhm, hi, i'm anna and i'm the new exchange student from italy, nice to meet you." i just hoped that it wouldn't have lasted much so that i could go taking a seat.

"yo do you really eat pasta everyday? and what about pineapple on pizza?" a guy sitting in the first seat was talking. i guess he was making a joke.

i wanted to say something, but i heard someone saying: "don't ever say that again, we don't eat that shit, it's not even an actual pizza flavour." it was mattia. thank god another familiar face.

i smiled and i was trying not to laugh loudly. "okay guys, enough." the professor came in. "thank you anna, now you can go to take a seat."

thank god it seemed like ages. i took a quick look at the class and i noticed charli already had a seat, then she waved at me, so i walked through the class and finally took a seat next to her.

while i was trying to follow the rest of the lesson, i saw a guy sitting in front of charli turned towards her and i could hear him saying: "yo tiktok you shouldn't be late to class, just cause you're relevant doesn't mean you're privileged."

he was so rude and mean, and for what? i looked at charli to see her reaction and i also felt bad for her. she looked back at me, but immediately looked away.

"you know, it's none of your business what i do, and pay attention to the lesson if you really wanna be useful." she said calmly and soon after she continued taking notes.

i was impressed cause i didn't know how she was so calm. i would have literally freaked out. the rest of the lesson passed by and as soon as the bell rang, charli took me by the arm and took me out of the class in the fastest way as possible.

"so, what do you think?" charli asked me. "and sorry for what you heard before, some people like to make bad jokes about me just cause-" her voice was breaking, but she didn't seem like she was about to cry fortunately.

i already knew what she was gonna say, that guy made it pretty obvious. i didn't know how to act, tho, or what to say.

"the professor seemed cool and don't worry, you don't have to apologise. it's none of my business." i tried to play it down. "and in my honest opinion, he's just jealous, i mean, he said you're relevant and he's not, so"

charli smiled lightly and said: "yeah, but let's not talk about that. it's lunch time so you get to see cafeteria, it's gonna be fun."

we walked through the hallway and went downstairs. it didn't seem like the same cafeteria i saw few hours earlier cause now it was really crowded.

"come with me, our table is over there." and she started walking. our table? i hoped her friends were nice, like her.

charli stopped, meaning that we were arrived, but i didn't see anyone. it was just the two of us. "c'mon take a seat, my friends are gonna like you don't worry."

so i did as she said and after few minutes two girls arrived. "sorry there were ton of people, but we managed to get lunch for you too." the brown headed girl said looking at charli. "oh sorry we didn't know you were gonna to seat with us"

"don't worry i can do it by myself." i was about to stand up, but charli stopped me: "don't, it would take a lot of time, you can take something from me."

"we can divide our lunch." the blonde girl said. they were really nice, but i didn't want to bother them.

"guys i really appreciate it, but i'll be right back, trust me." and i stood up. i arrived where all the students were waiting in line and so did i.

while i was waiting, i felt someone taking me by my arm. it was all so fast that i didn't see who it was. "you really thought you could get lunch by yourself?" it was vinnie.

i looked at him like to say 'yeah duh' and then he said: "here, i got you something." a little smile took form on my face. it was cute of him. "look, i just did it  cause it your first day, don't expect me to do it everyday."

jeez don't worry vincent, i wasn't going to.

"thank you but you didn't have to." i said and since there was a solid minute of silence i turned around to go sit with charli and her friends. "i'm going this way."

without even looking at me, vinnie said: "ok see you later." and he turned around too.

"wow you were fast, did they made you skip the line?" charli said while she was eating her sandwich.

"uhm actually vinnie got lunch for me, since he already knew there were gonna be lots of people." as soon as these words came out of my mouth, all the three of them said "ooohhh, someone has a crush on youuuu"

i took a seat and i could say i was blushing: "no guys, he's just being nice cause he's hosting me." it was partly true, but he wasn't that much nice, his tone was kinda rude. i got to know this guy more and more every day.
