it had been a week since emily's party at her house, so a week since emily proved she truly hates me and since addison turned out to be a bad friend. or maybe she was never a friend of mine, who knows.
it currently was 7.55 in the morning and the lessons were about to start. i was walking to english class, but first i needed to stop by at my locker and take the book i needed.
i opened the locker door and rapidly took the book to get to class as soon as possible. this morning started in a pretty quiet and calm way and i was genuinely happy about it.
ever since i came here, all i got was problems, spotlight and drama. which i definitely didn't plan at all, but i was kinda getting used to it.
i finally arrived at english class and i immediately took the seat next to charli.
"what happened to the tiktok fuckboy?" she asked noticing vinnie wasn't with me.
"i don't know, we got out of the car and then he said he had to do something." i shrugged. "he's a mystery."
"oh yeah yeah." charli said as she wasn't even looking at me. "so, what do you think about this love week thing, uh?"
i was confused for a second, or two, but then i remembered what mr clark told me and vinnie during our detention.
today was the first day of the love week and since i had never experienced it, i honestly didn't know what to expect.
"i don't know, i mean, it's cool but it's not a big deal." i said. "what about you? do you think someone's gonna let out his feelings?"
charli looked at me like she was giving me a death stare because she understood i was talking about mattia. those two had something going on, but no one knew what it actually was.
if you asked charli what they were, she would simply say they were friends even thought she liked him, because mattia's intentions weren't clear enough. ugh, boys.
"ugh i don't know!" she slightly raised her voice. "like, today we're all good, the day after he acts like we didn't kiss before.."
"maybe he's just tying to figure his feeling out and wants to be sure before making a move." i tried to reassure her. "so, don't frea-"
"good morning guys, everybody take a seat and let's start the lesson." the professor said as he walked in.
i looked around the class to check if vinnie was there, but he was not. where the heck was he and what was he doing?
the professor shutter the door and started talking about today's lesson and of course i wasn't paying much attention. why was vinnie always in my mind?
it had been 25 minutes or so, when someone knocked on the door. i thanked god because the lesson was getting boring and i needed some break.
the professor sighed as he heard the knocks that interrupted his interesting lesson and after a good minute he said: "come in."
the door opened and as soon as i saw that curly blond head i recognised it was him and without even realising a smile took place on my face.
"hacker, what happened? you didn't hear the alarm? you were stuck in the traffic? some family emergency?" the professor said clearly bothered.
"uh, i'm sorry for being late, but could i join the class for the rest of the lesson? i guarantee you it won't happen again." vinnie said sounding very convincing.
the professor simply nodded shutting his eyes allowing vinnie to take a seat. he walked past me and when our eyes met, vinnie winked at me as he was reassuring me.
the rest of the lesson passed by and then someone else knocked on the door. it was pretty hilarious, specially because of the professor's expressions, but at least we got to spend some time without paying attention to the lesson.
"i'm sorry to interrupt the lesson, but i have something for the class." a not very tall brown headed girl.
after the professor allowed her, she came in with a pretty big box in her hand and i honestly didn't know what it was and i was so curious.
"guys, as you might know, today's the first day of the love week and there are already some anonymous notes in here for you all!" the girl said looking pretty excited.
as she said that me and charli gave each other a look and honestly i was excited to read a note, hopefully there was one for me.
the girl started passing through the seats and gave everyone a note, some people got even a couple and i was slightly jealous of them, but i guess i should have waited for my turn.
finally she got in front of me and left the piece of paper on my desk. i didn't even know who it was from, but i immediately got butterflies in my stomach and i wanted to know what there was inside.
i looked at charli and she also had one. for sure it was from mattia. i was 100% sure they would end up dating and even getting married some day, but they just needed a little push.
i slowly opened the note and it took me some seconds to recognise the handwriting:
not a day goes by without me being forever thankful to have you in my life. ever since we met, you've always been on my side, supporting me even at my worsts. i could have never asked for a better person to go through all this with. love ya kid.
as i finished reading the note vinnie wrote for me, some tears came out from my eyes, but i did my best to wipe them off not to let anyone notice.
i definitely didn't expect vinnie to write such a sweet thing for me, he could have simply talked to me, like we always have, but i really appreciate it.
i turned around and he was already looking at me smiling: "so? am i good enough with words?"
"don't be too full of yourself vincent." i chuckled. "no but seriously, you didn't have to and i appreciated every single word you wrote for me."
"no need to thank me, you've done so many things for me and this is the least i could do." he smiled as he was leaning towards me.
fortunately the lunch break began and i couldn't be happier. i was at my locker, again, to leave some books i didn't need anymore and i couldn't wait to eat something since i was starving.
as i was shutting the locker door, i felt someone's hand on my eyes.
"what the fu-"
"watch your language kid." vinnie chuckled. "and don't freak out."
"i wouldn't if you just told me what's going on!" i placed my hands on vinnie's trying to see something.
"hey calm down and trust me." vinnie said as he was pressing his hands on my face not to let me sneak. "it's a little surprise."
i could definitely tell he was laughing inside and this whole thing was funny to him, but it wasn't for me.
i was panicking because i hated surprises and vinnie damn knew it, specially at school and in front of other people who weren't even my friends.
"vinnie i swear to god if it's something embarrassing or a stupid joke, i'm gonna punch you right in the face." i managed to say as vinnie was guiding me through the hallway.
"hm fine, i'll pretend i believe that." vinnie laughed. "now stay calm and again, trust me. we're almost there."
those last words definitely made me freak out on the inside and i really hoped it wasn't a stupid joke and it would have been over soon.
