Chapter 23

Reese

"Hey Jade?" Reese continued, " can I ask you a question?" Jade turned her head, looking at him, expressionless, "ok." Reese nodded, "how did Garmadon and the Overlord kidnap you?"

Jade then looked back at the TV, "I saw something in the bushes and followed it." She said blandly, "it was Garmadon. He knocked me out and took me to their hideout. They turned me against you." She explained. Reese bit his inner lip, "and uh.. how do you feel about that now?"

Jade stayed silent for a moment before answering: "nothing. I don't have a reaction unlike how you do now." She looked back at him to see his worried eyes, "but I did feel powerful. Like I was capable of anything. I wanted to hurt you." She said, looking down, avoiding his gaze, " I regret that now." Reese turned his head a bit to notice her face. Tears formed at the edge of her eyes as they started shifting back to mainly green.

"Jade.." he trailed off, "your eyes."she pulled her knees to her chest, "I'm sorry," she sniffled, " I-I don't know how to...to control this." Reese got on the bed next to her, and hugged her, hushing her, "it's ok." He whispered. She then wrapped her arms around him as well.

"Reese?" She started, "what do I do?" She asked.

The master of amber didn't answer for a minute. "I don't know," he admitted, resting his head on her shoulder. "But I promise, I'm not going anywhere. I'm going to help you. No matter what."

Jade buried her head into his shoulder, her sobs became shorter, "thank you Reese." He smiled, rubbing her back, "any time."

They pulled away, and Jade rubbed her tear stained eyes, "ca.. can I have those noodles now?" She asked. Reese smirked with a chuckle, "of course." He got off the bed, helping her to her feet. Reese opened the door, noticing Maya dash by. Out of reflex, he slammed the door back shut. Jade jumped back a bit. He slowly opened the door again, peeking his head out. "ADRIAN! GET YOUR BUTT OUTSIDE NOW!" The master of lighting yelled, dashing up the stairs. Reese turned back to Jade, "it's just Maya calling for Adrain," he reassured, "let's go, we should be ok." She nodded, still a bit unsure.

Reese opened the door once again, but this time they walked out. They headed to the kitchen, no one else was in there. Reese went to the cabinet, pulling out a bowl and pot. Jade sat on the counter next to the sink, watching him. He grabbed some ramen from the pantry and opened it, putting the dry noodles in the pot. He filled it up with water, then sat it on the stove. He turned it on, letting it heat up.

Once they were soft enough he poured out most of the water and divided the noodles into two bowls. He split the flavor between the bowls and stirred it with some forks. He put the empty pot in the sink, turned off the stove and handed a bowl to Jade. She smiled, taking it, "thanks, it smells good," Reese smiled as well, "thanks."

"Wanna eat outside?" He suggested, "it's nice today." She nodded, "sure." They took the bowls and went out back. They noticed Nya training the others without them. Reese looked back at Jade to see her looking at the ground, "actually can we go back to my room? I wanna watch Sk8 the Infinity." Reese nodded.

They were about to head in when: "Hey Reese!" He turned, and so did Jade. They noticed Dianna running up to them, "Hey wanna come train with us? Nya is teaching up Spinjitzu, I found it easy but Maya is frustrated that she can't get it." She snickered.

He smiled, "that sounds like my cousin." He then looked back at Jade to see her looking away. He could tell she just wanted to go back inside with him. He looked back at Dianna, "thanks Di, but Jade isn't feeling too good, Lloyd asked me to watch her for a bit." Dianna seemed to look a bit betrayed. "Oh, yea sure." She nodded, "I can teach you later." She suggested. She then jogged back to the rest.
