Chapter 25

Chapter 25 ~ Rowan

"Finally Christmas break! I'm so done with school." Ashley said, shutting her locker.

"I know right. I mean, I love it here but I seriously need a rest." I said, leaning to the side.

"I feel ya. So how about a trip to Mcdonald's?" Lucy asked. I felt my stomach tumble into a pile of knotts. I has gained 5 pounds over the past few weeks and every time I weighed myself I felt sick. I wanted to stop eating, but it was too risky. It was too obvious. And so I continued to struggle. I had considered purging a few times, but every time I bent over the toilet my body got paralyzed with fear and I couldn't do it.

"Yeeeees. I'm dying for a smoothie my goodness." Cara said energetically.

"Oh here comes Prince Charming." Jenna whispered.

"Which one?" Ashley and I asked at the same time. We looked at each other and burst out laughing. Since the time when Scott had asked her out, she'd already gone out with him twice. She was head over heals for him and I was happy for her.

"Oh, ok." Ashley said, running up to him and smiling. He smiled, but it looked forced. We all watched as he said something to her and her face fell. He continued to talk and I noticed her lip quiver. Then he turned and left. Ashley turned to face us, and head down, ran up to us.

"Boys. Are. Idiots." She hissed, grabbing her bag and walking away. The rest of us looked at each other.

"Rowan!" A familiar voice called down the hallway. Oh no, not now.

"Leave him alone Row. It'll hurt Ash even more." Lucy whispered. I glanced at Asa who was heading quickly down the hall, and at my friend who were nearing the door. I couldn't do this to her. I bit my lip and taking one quick glance at Asa, I sprinted down the hall and out the door to the girls.

"And then he...he said I'm not his type and he can't do this, he doesn't have time for a relationship." Ashley was sobbing as the girls tried to comfort her.

"Is he for real?" I asked. I couldn't believe it. They seemed so perfect for each other! I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket, and decided to ignore it.

"Boys are idiots. Now we need to go get a giant sundae cuz he doesn't deserve you." Cara patted her back, trying to make her calm down.

"Ash, don't let some stupid guy waste your mascara. You paid for that stuff, and he's obviously a waste of your time. Double fudge sundae everyone? I know the perfect place." I said. Ashley smiled lightly.

"Lead the way Row." She said, wiping away a tear.

Half an hour later we were seated at Jackie's with five amazing ice cream sundaes in front of us. I had ever seen. I didn't even want to think about how many calories were in it. It didn't matter, not know anyways. As we talked about Christmas and New Year's plans, my phone continued to vibrate like a maniac in my pocket.

"I gotta go to the bathroom, be back soon." I said quickly and raced to the bathroom.

Asa was calling.

"What?" I asked as soon as the line connected.

"Why'd you leave so quickly?" His voice hit me like a freight train and I immediately regretted leaving him behind. He sounded...hurt.

"Scott broke up with Ashley. Look I'm sorry I left so quickly but I didn't want to hurt her." I explained, crossing my sweaty fingers, hoping nothing bad would happen after I left him.

"Really? Well that was a jerk move. Sorry about that, I thought you were ignoring me." Asa said, this time sounding relieved. I smiled.

"Ignoring you? That would be insane of me. How about I stop at your house later and we watch a movie?" I asked, getting out of the stall I had hid inside, and stared at myself in the mirror.

"Cool. See you later love." He said, and hung up. I couldn't help but grin.

I slid my phone into my pocket and rinsed my face. I realized I hadn't really looked at myself in the mirror for quite a while.

My brown eyes looked a bit more lively, a bit brighter than I remembered. My hair was now mire wavy then curly, and I looked, so...English? In my uniform. Weird. I left the bathroom and slid into my seat next to Jenna.

"Extras anyone?" I asked, and they all smiled.

Yay! Uploaded a lot faster than expected! I was just sitting in my room listening to music and the ideas kinda flowed...I know it's really short but the next chapter is gonna be really long and AMAZING I'm SO excited AH!
Also, did you guys notice Kenzie wasn't in this chapter at all? What do you think that means???
