Chapter 11 ~ Two POV's
Asa's POV
I walked into the biology class with Rowan. I was still kind of pissed about Davis. But I just had to deal with her for the rest of the year and then it was over. I spotted an empty table with two seats, and I rushed towards it, Rowan at my heels.
Rowan's POV
"Please get in your seats guys, we have a full schedule ahead of us!" A man walked into the class, and everyone hushed. He was bald with some gray stubble and he wore glasses. He looked cool, like a good teacher. Like someone back in Michigan.
"Mr. M? Uhm.." Asa said, motion to me. I slid down in my seat.
"Oh, whose this??" He said, a smile spreading across his face.
"Erm, I'm Rowan." I said.
"Ah, a beautiful name for a beautiful girl. I'll spare you the introduction, I know it's a chore. Well today class, we are going to about the human body and how our organisms need food to survive. We'll watch a few videos, do an experiment and take some notes. It should be a chill class." He explained, walking over to his desk. I blushed at his first comment, but as he continued, I felt my heart stop. My blood ran cold and I shivered.
"Hey, you okay? You look kind of stressed out.." Asa said, looking at me with his eyebrows scrunched.
"Yeah I'm fine. Just one of those random shivers you know?" I said with a fake smile. He smiled and looked back to the teacher. I slumped lower into my seat. Need food? I don't think so...Somehow I managed to survive on small veggies and forkfuls of food if necessary. My 'organism' as Mr.M called it, was still fine.
Mr. M played a video and I followed along with everyone, writing down notes in my notebook. Then we all went over to the lab tables to conduct an experiment. By the end of the class though, all I had learned was that this stuff about our bodies needing food was literal crap. I heard the bell ring and we all stood up and I grabbed my book.
"Time for Gym!" Asa said, joining me at the door to the classroom.
"Yup. I hate gym but at the same time I enjoy it, ya know? How's the teacher?" I asked.
"Ms. Peters? She's okay. Your typical gym teacher. Warning: Her best friend is her whistle. And try not to piss her off. Once you get on her bad side, there's no going back. You'll see." He explained as we continued down the hall. He turned and I followed, and I watched as he pushed open the doors to the gym. It was a nice size, air-conditioned. Asa was right. The building was much cozier on the inside than the out.
"See that? It's her office. You'll get your uniform there. See you later!" Asa waved and headed off in the direction of the boys locker room. I walked across the hardwood gym floor and rapped my knuckles on the glass door.
"Come in." A muffled voice called. I stepped inside to find a middle-aged woman with brown hair in a ponytail typing away at a computer, but she swiveled around to face me. She was clothed in black yoga pants and a purple sweater.
"Oh yeah. Rowan Sparks? I got info that your a small, even though look smaller than that! If it's too big just tell me. Also if you're a bit late today it's okay. Now go, change!" She said, waving me out of her office. I clutched the navy blue shorts and t-shirt with the school logo and ran to the girls changing room. No bathrooms to change in? This was ridiculous. Lucky for me, the room was empty, so I slid on the clothes and put my hair into a braid. Then I leaned down to tie my lucky P.E shoes. The uniform was okay, but hung loose on my body? Did I seriously need an extra small? Something was wrong with the sizes here. I walked out of the room to find about 20 people chattering about. The girls all had long blond and brown hair, slim legs and pretty faces with shiny blue eyes. I was an outcast, the misfit, so I decided to awkwardly stand against the wall. I watched as Asa chattered with his friends, laughing and gesturing wildly with his hands. I was almost sure he was talking about Ms.Davis. He looked around and saw me, and when he did, she said something to the guys and headed off in my direction.
Asa's POV
"Hey! So I'm guessing that's a small, yeah?" I said, looking at Rowan. I couldn't help but notice how tiny her legs were. Even in the school gym uniform, she looked cute.
She shrugged.
"I guess...I don't know."
"It looks kinda big on you? Are you en extra?" I asked. She shrugged again.
"I like loose clothes. Can we not talk about this?" I looked over at a bunch of other girls. What was up with Rowan? Flattery, especially about size was a definite flirting tactic with most girls. That's how Scott (A/N: made up friend ok?) got Ashely to go to the school dance with him.
"How about a race?" I asked, changing the topic. I didn't want to bring this up anymore.
"Yeah, sure." Rowan replied.
"Whoever does the most laps at the end of the 10 minute run, wins." I said. I got ready to run.
"Okay. Go, go, go, GO!" Ms. Peters shouted, and off we ran.
