Chapter 19 ~ Rowan
I felt my heart stop.
"I'm sorry what?" I asked. It took a few seconds for me to realize how idiotic my reaction was but oh well.
"Rowan, I like you. And I wanted to know. Do you, do you want to go on a date with me? Not this Friday, since you're busy, but maybe next Friday? Or this Saturday? It's okay, if you don't like me I mean I get it.." Asa stuttered and tripped over the words. A grin spread across my face. I threw my arms around him and gave him a long hug.
"I would love that. I'm free this Saturday." I whispered, and buried my head into his shoulder. He smelled amazing.
We stood like that for what seemed like ages, but in reality it was just a few minutes.
"Well, I guess I'll see you tomorrow then?" He said with a small smile when we finally let go.
"Yeah, I guess so. I'll text you." I smirked. He grinned.
"Okay Row. Talk to you later." He waved and walked off. I wondered what he was thinking now. I took a deep breath.
WHAT. JUST. HAPPENED.
I couldn't believe it. Already? I took a deep breath and replayed the moment in my head. I shrieked. Asa asked me out! THE ASA BUTTERFIELD! He asked me out! I ran down the rest of the sidewalk and up to out house and ran in. I dropped my bag and did a happy dance, screaming and shrieking and singing.
"Rowan what's UP? You sound crazy..." Kayla said, walking out of the living room. I ran over to her and grabbed her hands, and then spun around in circles.
"ASA ASKED ME OUT!" I screamed when I got dizzy and let her go.
"Noooooo." She said, eyes wide. I nodded vigorously and continued dancing.
"What's all this commotion about?" Mom appeared on the upstairs landing, and looked down at me dancing and Kayla standing, shellshocked.
"Asa asked her out." Kayla said slowly, as if she couldn't believe it herself.
"He really did mom!" I screamed. Mom laughed.
"Well isn't that amazing? Rowan I'm so happy for you! An occasion like this deserves a special outfit though. How about you and Kayla run to the mall and choose something? And grab some dinner?" Mom asked. I looked up. Buy a new outfit? I'd love that. But dinner? My heart sank. I tried to push the nagging thoughts aside. I couldn't let theruin my good mood.
"Okay! Thank you so much mom!" I squealed, running up the stairs and hugging her. I let go and ran back down energetically.
"Money's in my purse. Don't be too long!" Mom said. Kayla slid her shoes on slowly and grabbed some money and put it in her purse.
"I'm gonna go change." I said quickly and rushed upstairs. I pulled on a pair of navy blue sweats, a oversized gray sweater with a panda and gray vans. I quickly brushed out my hair and ran downstairs. It was a simple outfit, cozy and not too showy. I hated going out in clothes that showed too much of my fat.
"See you mom." Kayla said, as if in a trance, then she pulled my hand and we walked out.
"Kayla can you believe it!!" I said excitedly, jumping up and down as we walked down the sidewalk.
"I can't. My sister's going on a date with a movie star. Gimme my ten pounds." She broke into a grin, motioning for me to hand the money. I laughed.
"At home." I said. We walked down the streets in silence, just enjoying each others company, until we got to the subway. We quickly got tickets and waited in the smelly station.
