Chapter 8 ~ Rowan
As soon as Asa asked me what I want, I panicked. He COUDN'T know. I would just die. So I said chips. And as soon as we started eating, I distracted him.
I did everything to stop him looking at my food. Then I threw them away, hoping he wouldn't notice. So far so good. He hadn't said anything. And that's what I wanted.
"Hey so should I show you the school?" He asked as we walked sown the the busy, crowded street.
"Um...I guess." I said nervously. I was still tense after the McDonald's incident and honestly, just wanted to go home. But then again, I was SPENDING TIME WITH ASA BUTTERFIELD, and when I looked up into his blue eyes all thoughts of going home disappeared.
"Yes, actually, that would be great." I said with a smile. He smiled back and started leading me down streets and alleys until we were there. It was VERY different from my old school.
The building gave me the chills. It was dark and gray and made of stone, with overgrown bushes all around it, grass peeking through the cracked pavement.
"Here it is!" Asa said, with a forced smile. "Not exactly cozy, but trust me the inside is much better. And the atmosphere is great. You'll fit in in no time!" He said cheerfully. I smiled, hoping deep inside that it would be okay.
"Well, how about I take you for a quick walk and then back to your house." Asa suggested. I nodded, and he linked arms with me again. I felt my heart flutter inside my ribcage. This was SO not happening!! I couldn't believe it!!
We walked down the street and pushed through the crowds, as Asa showed me all the famous monuments of the city. Here I was, in the city of my dreams, with the BOY of my dreams, walking through the dark night, talking. This was COMPLETELY unbelievable. I was stunned.
"Well, goodnight Rowan! I'll see you at school, yeah?" He asked. I couldn't get over how charming his accent was in real life.
"Yup. Goodnight Asa!" I climbed up the front steps and reached to open the door.
He gave me a small wave, blu eyes sparkling and I smiled.
Then I opened the door and disappeared inside.
