Chaptet 4 ~ Rowan

I placed my suitcase on the bed. The previous few hours had been absolute chaos, but we were finally settled into out nice little house. Mom and dad said that for a few weeks Kayla and I had to share a room but once we got settled we could separate. I didn't mind that much. Mom's head popped into the room. "We're going out for dinner so put on something, well, nicer and come down to the living room." Then she disappeared. I glanced at my old jeans and worn out t-shirt. I had to put on something better. I turned around from Kayla and popped open my suitcase. Then I choose my favorite jeans and pulled on my black converse high tops. What shirt could I put on?? I ended up choosing a loose thin green shirt with sleeves that slipped below my shoulders. I settled on a black tank top underneath and started brushing my hair. My favorite black hair bow held back a small curl and then I sat down, waiting for Kayla. She put her blond hair into a messy bun, and tugged on a pair of dark jeans and a blue shirt.

"How come I'm the only one in the family with auburn hair?" I asked. Everyone else was blond, except for Aunt Carrie, who was brunette. Not that mattered anyway. She wasn't completely related. She had just moved in 4 years ago when Uncle Jack died.

"I don't know, different genes I guess." Kayla replied, lacing her vans. "Let's go." We ran off downstairs and found everyone else waiting.

"Okay kids. You stay near us. Don't stop to look around or think, or you'll get lost. Keep close and if you get lost, STAY PUT." Dad said, eyeing us. As if. If I got lost I'd run.

"Where are we going? I can use my phone to find the restaurant." Kayla said. Thank goodness. Dad needed to know what was a smarter thing to do.

"The restaurant is called Jackie's. I guess you can look for it if you get lost." Dad said sheepishly. Kayla typed away at her phone. I left mine in my pocket. Not like I would get lost anyway.

"Well, let's get going." Aunt Carrie clapped her hands together and we floated through the door.

All six of us walked down the busy sidewalks. I stayed behind, walking slowly, examining the buildings. London! I dreamed of this city since I was 10! And everything was perfect. Except someone was missing. I sighed.

"Rowan hurry up! I don't want you to get lost!" Mom called, turning back.

"Okay!" I called back, quickening my pace. But as soon as I caught up, I slowed down again. I pictured him in my head. Dark hair, tall, british accent, deep voice and the most striking blue eyes ever. My heart melted just thinking about him.

Get a grip on yourself Rowan, I thought. I noticed that my shoe was untied.

"Wait mom, I need to tie my shoe!" I shouted, bending down. We had gotten to a very crowded street, and people kept pushing me around, bumping into me. I laced my shoe and got up.

Mom was nowhere in sight.

"Mom! Where are you!" I shouted, my voice wavering. WHERE WAS SHE?! I felt my breath quickening and I suddenly started sweating. Sweating in November in London. Just great. I was going to have an anxiety attack right here, in the middle of London with my family no where in sight.

"Someone, please, help me.." I whispered, tears gathering in my eyes. Why had I been so stupid? If I had put the name in my phone I could easily find my way to the restaurant. I started running around, frantically, searching for a familiar head. My other shoe had untied, but I let it be. I still couldn't find them.

Oh no. Where was my family?? What was I going to do? I was lost in the middle of London with no sense of direction whatsoever. I could feel my anxiety acting up by the minute. I pushed through crowds, looking for Mom. Then I felt a hard tug on my shoelace and careened forward. I put my hands in front of me, bracing myself for the fall. Nothing happened. I opened my eyes. I was suspended in midair, with someone's hands around me. Instinctively, I sucked in my stomach. The person, who was standing behind me, helped me up and I turned around. My heart stopped. I could feel my blood run cold and my stomach drop to my feet. Please no, not right here, not right now, I thought.

It was too late.

Right there, in front of me, was my dream boy.
