"Well that was fun." Dad said, shutting the door.

"It was. I'm glad you girls clicked so well so fast." Mom said, heading towards the kitchen. I went after her.

"Me too. And I'm glad you and Dad got along with her Mom." I admitted, reaching for a rag to help her wash up.

"She's really nice. And thankfully Kayla was fine playing with Mikey." Mom chuckled.

"Very funny." Kayla called from the living room. I rolled my eyes.

"Kay, trust me, I've had my fair share of legos with him as well." Mom replied.

"Speaking of Mikey, I'll go make sure he's getting ready for bed." Dad said, and disappeared upstairs.

"Actually, I'm gonna go too. Goodnight." Kayla peaked her head into the kitchen, blowing us a kiss.

"I'll help." I said, and Mom smiled at me.

"Thanks Row." I nodded, placing a mug on the drying rack. I tried to remain calm, but my stomach was full of butterflies.

"You know, I was thinking, we should go on a coffee date like we used to in Michigan ." Mom suddenly said.

"Yes! I missed those. We should go somewhere artsy, like a cute cafe downtown or something." I said excitedly. Even though a part of me had always been anxious at the coffee dates with mom, I enjoyed just talking with her. I wanted to enjoy everything though, including a creamy chocolate latte with a cloud of whipped cream, drizzled with hot fudge.

"I was just thinking, we haven't gotten to talk much Row. The move has been hard on all of us I suppose, and I was just so busy I never bothered to pay attention. Especially since you're such an independent girl, I tried to assure myself you were doing fine. And I'm sorry, I should still have made some time to talk. So how about January 3rd or so?"

I stopped drying a plate, and looked at Mom, scrubbing away at dishes, after Christmas day. She should be in bed, drinking tea. But that was Mom. She loved getting things done as fast as possible, no matter how tired she got.

Do you really want to burden her more?

"That sounds perfect." I said, my mind racing. Should I really tell her? Did she really need even more problems to deal with? The move was hard for her! And she called me an independent girl! I didn't need to worry her or cause her problems. She didn't need such a problematic child! Right?

Wrong. I thought of Asa, of Ashley. I thought off Kayla, of all my other friends, of Mikey, of Dad. They all would want, or wanted, me to get better. Mom included. I wasn't a burden. I was a teen girl who needed help. Real help. Being independent couldn't fix a mental illness.

"Mom?"

"Yeah?"

"Remember, how we'd celebrate Thanksgiving back in Michigan ?"

"Of course! We would have celebrated here as well, I was just so busy unpacking..we'll do it next year I promise."

"Mom it's fine. I just...well do you remember Aunt Meg?"

"How could I forget." Mom rolled her eyes, sighing.

I put down my dish rag and looked at her, my past two years of my life flashing in front of my eyes. Then I took her hand and pulled her over to the table.

I took a deep breath.

"There's something I need to tell you."

QOTD: Are you excited for Christmas?
AOTD: YES! Already blasting Christmas music..woops

I don't have much to say because I'm gonna get emotional? This is my last short like "author update/chat thing" and I honestly can't believe it.
