Chapter 23 ~ Asa

Her lips tasted like watermelon. I tightened my grip around her tiny waist as the snowflakes melted on my face. After what seemed like forever, my eyes opened and I caught myself looking right into hers. A small smile spread across her face and I couldn't help but smile back.
"I...I...l" I desperately tried to find an explanation for my sudden actions, but she just reached out and placed her finger on my lips.
"Shh. No explanation needed." She whispered. I felt my knees weaken and I pulled her closer to my body, my arms around her waist and her head resting on my chest. We stood like that for quite while, just watching the snow fall over the lit up city of London.
"It's so-" I began
"Beautiful." Rowan finished. I smiled.
"What I meant to say exactly."
"What time is it?" She asked. I glanced at my watch.
"We should get going. Sadly."
Her face fell.
"Okay." She took my hand and laced her soft gentle fingers between mine. I clasped them tight as we walked. She opened her mouth and started talking, telling me more about her life in the US. It was interesting, but I was only half listening. I knew deep down she wasn't really into it either. Her pure presence was enough for me.
As we got nearer to her house her voice died down and we just walked silently. Soon, we stopped.
"Thank you Asa, for the most amazing night in my life. It was perfect." She whispered, looking up into my eyes. The snow drifted from the sky and fell on her hair.
"And it was the only first date. Maybe the second one will be even better?" I said, grinning slyly. She laughed.
"How about the first Friday in December?" She asked, smiling. I nodded and leaned in closer.
"I'm always free." I dropped my hands down to her waist and felt her fingers slide into my hair. She bit her lip and I felt my eyes close. Suddenly a burst of watermelon erupted into my lips and was lost completely in the kiss.
"Goodnight Ace." She winked and ran her finger down my arm. Then she walked up the walk to her door and disappeared inside.
I smiled and sighed deeply. Then with one swift turn I was walking home.
Finally! I know I was killing you guys with the suspense and this chapter is rabbit poo but it had to be done. The next chapter won't be so good either but like this one it's a transition chapter.
