The whole time during class time, I was distracted and unsure on how to break the news to my family or even Katrina.. I got my assignment done, pressing send with that I packed up and left. Bidding bye to my professor. I got in my car, driving off.

Once at home, I put my stuff away, took a shower and decided to tell them over dinner.

About half an hour later, we were seated at the dinner table having pot roast and baked potatoes with vegetables. I put my utensils down, clearing my throat, I looked up at my parents.

"Mom and dad, I've got something to tell you." I begun, they stopped and looked at me.

"Okay hunny, what is it?" My mom says.

"I've been called on a mission. I depart in 2 days." I break down the news, mom's shocked, dad too.

"We had a feeling that this was coming. We knew it too." My dad speaks up. My mom nods, looking at me sadly.

"A couple of months ago, Blayne called and told me about it. Then today, I received another call with the details of the departure date." I tell them both.

"For how long?" Mom's the first to ask.

I sigh.. "I don't know."

She nods, my dad sighs, getting up from the table, walking around towards me, he places his hand on my shoulder, I look at him.

"Well son, keep in touch at any possible time, we're proud of you." He says, before patting my shoulder and walking back to his seat.

"Have you told Katrina?" My mom asks me.
I shake my head no.

"I don't even know how to tell her." I admit truthfully. Mom nods. We finished eating the dinner, although we had no appetite. I helped clear the table and washed the dishes.. mom had excused herself to their room. Probably to cry.. my heart pains me when my mother cries.

Dad comes to the kitchen, looking gloomy.
"She'll be okay." He says. I nod and put away the rest of the dishes, after drying them.

Eventually, we all went to our rooms, I walked into my closet and found the bag needed for the bike that's in the garage. I grabbed a few items that I'll be needing for the journey. Once I have packed, leaving my room going to the garage. I turned on the light, my bike standing tall. I grabbed the rag and the spray, walking towards the bike, I began cleaning it.. bringing out its shine...

For the next day, I made sure to spend time with the group, Jake joining us. We had a fun day at the arcade.. Jake knowing that this is a goodbye party, without the others actually knowing the reason to this fun day. I still haven't gotten around to telling her, as she's smiling and laughing with her friends, I can't even imagine her sad face. I couldn't bring myself to put out the light in her eyes with my news, so I kept quiet and put on a happy face..

~The following night.~

I had my final family dinner including Kat and her parents. I asked my parents not to tell them, they understood. Mom was a bit mad, but she came around after I told her, that I didn't want to take the light out of Katrina's eyes.

Katrina and her parents left around 11:30. I walked alongside Katrina towards her house, we stood now on her porch.

"Well, thank you for walking me home, although you didn't have too." She says, wrapping her arms around my waist. I hugged her, holding her tight, not wanting to let go.

"Anytime." I say, kissing the top of her head. We stood like that for what it seemed like "forever" but in reality, it was only for a few minutes.

"Have a good night" she says, after pulling away. I nodded and bent down to kiss her.
Good bye kiss.

"Night." I say, she walks on inside, I turned around, walking off her porch, I let a tear fall, wiping it quickly before walking inside my house.

The kitchen, the table have been cleared and cleaned. Everything looks in its place, trying to imprint the image of my home into my brain, every single little detail. I walked on upstairs, towards my parents room, I knocked lightly.

"Come in" my dad says.

Opening the door and walking in inside.
"I just came to say good night and um...goodbye."

They both nodded, standing up. We hugged for a long time. I kissed them both on their cheeks.

"I'll see you guys soon.. yeah?" I say.

Mom and dad nod. "Of course." They replied.

"Good night. I love you both."

"We love you too." With that being said, I walked out, heading towards my room.

I laid down on my bed, after seeing Katrina's room light are off.

I laid there for a good hour or two. By the time my alarm rang, it was around 2 o'clock. I got up and got dressed.. putting on black combat pants and boots, with a camo green shirt, grabbing the bag as well as the leather jacket, which was in the back of my closet. I grabbed my phone, putting it in one of the zippered pockets. I walked out of my room, taking a final glance, before shutting it closed.

Walking quietly in the dark hallway, towards their room, I set the bag down, and walked on inside, heading towards their sleeping figures. I bent down, kissing my dad's forehead, before going towards my mom and kissing her on the forehead.

I walked out of their room, closing their door quietly and heading on out to the garage. Garage door opening, motion light turning on. Once I have the bag in its place, I pulled the bike out of the garage, and away from the houses before hopping on, driving off..

Not looking back..

((Well, damn..he left.. see you in the next one))
