Delphin hadn't spoken

Delphin hadn't spoken. She actually hadn't said a word and it worried William. His eyes resting on the bruises across her jaw and throat.

He couldn't stop his thoughts from running back to the small whimper he heard as he slowly unscrewed the nails, from the bones within her jaw. It was seared into her skin and for that reason, William was seething.

Historia was shaking. Come to think of it, she'd never seen Delphine or either of her friends upset or mad. She wondered if today would be the day. She knew that if William was using a glass cup to drink the hot tea Historia poured, he'd shatter it from how he was gripping his wooden cup.

She could tell he was trying to keep his anger contained. However, she wanted to know what he was thinking. Because when it came to Ymir she did everything she could to protect her.

She'd want him to do the same for Delphine.

Before she could speak up, he beat her to it.

"THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!" He threw the cup, startling Historia. Even if she did expect it, the anger and fear in his voice were present. She could hear the way it quivered as if they hadn't rescued Delphine.

She could feel his agony as he pointed at her.

The guards were prepared to move in and stop him.

However, they were surprised when Historia got on her knees.

"I know," She attempted to hide the sadness in her voice and the tears threatening to fall. "I'm so sorry," she whispered, "when I saw her room, I was so scared. I care about her too and I'll take whatever punishment you deem worthy on behalf of the people who did this to you."

Historia was lowkey terrified.

William was furious and it seemed that wasn't enough.

A soft voice filled the room, ending with a soft giggle. "William, please. At least I have earring holes now."

It was Delphine.

"If anyone is to blame, it's my fault," She gestured to herself, flinching for a moment at the sound of her own voice terrifying to her as she waited for something. When nothing came, she blinked and started yet again, "After I helped with the kids, I went to the roof to look at the stars. I should have known it was still a bit dangerous, no place is ever completely peaceful," she smiled, "I'll just be sure to be more in tune with my surroundings." Her voice was soft but scratchy. Historia and William could barely hear the shakiness in her voice.

"We can meet at the Lake tomorrow as promised. I'm ok William, really," she assured as she stood, her legs shaky.

"Thank you for finding me," she bowed, before exiting the throne room.

Two guards followed her to her room, per the request of Historia. William sighed.

For some reason, he knew she would say exactly that. At least she said something.
