I nervously shuffled down the steps of the barely lit hallway, the stone floor cold against my bare feet. I could hear the soft pitter-patter of the rain.
As I made my way down, I passed an opening in the bricks acting as the window. I stepped back up, admiring the rain. It was one of my most favorite things to experience. We'd had storms underwater, lighting, sand storms, but never rain. For obvious reasons.
Still, it was so beautiful. Relaxing. Gentle.
I put my hand out, allowing the small water droplets to incase it rolling down my fingers. I pulled the sleeve of my robe back, the silk white lace contrasting against my chocolate skin.
My hair was braided into two braids the ends tucked together in the back. I was tempted to jump off the ledge but there was no water to catch me.
As I pulled my hand back, I started my descent yet again my thoughts warped together as I pulled my hand to my chest.
I'd been out of the water for a day and I already missed it.
I shook my head, before finding myself falling at an impact I hadn't seen coming. Except before I could hit the floor, someone grabbed onto my hand and pulled me up.
The person scoffed wiping there hands on their clothes, "watch where you're going."
I blinked attempting to reorient myself, "uh sorry, about that," I turned away having recognized the voice of Levi. My stomach was just as nervous as my heart. But why?
He turned away shaking his hand, "It's nothing. Why are your hands wet?"
I chuckled nervously, "Haha, I uh..."
He looked at me expectantly, "well your highness...?" He asked it seeming almost mockingly.
"I was watching the rain, I've never actually seen it above water."
His eyes briefly widened, "Above water," before they narrowed, "I thought you said you were Queen of a kingdom beneath the surface."
I nodded slowly, "My kingdom is located underwater."
"How would you breath?"
Knowing this conversation would probably last a while, I stepped in front of him his stance away from me at first, "I'm going to grab a midnight snack and some tea, perhaps I could explain then?"
He nodded slowly, "Lead the way."
Instead of eating the dinner, I was half a piece deep in the sweet cake, a cup of black tea to my side.
"So... you swim around like fish?" He questions mildly curious, his seat in front of me across the table.
I nodded, "yep."
"Sounds... interesting," He leaned back his arms crossed.
