Lake giggled. The captain had given everyone the day or rather the afternoon off, after aggressive training before lunch. Now, it was time to mess around. The barracks were empty, save for a few sleeping soldiers, their captains also giving them the afternoon off.
Lake could see a few other squads laughing as they swam by. It'd been a while since she'd seen her fellow graduated cadets so happy. Delphine's presence had made the captains seem hopeful, which affected others. The final mission was still a few months away and still, the hope was there. Even the coral seemed to be more vibrant than usual.
"Guys, let's go!" Oliver grinned, flicking his tail to push him off the sandy ocean floor.
Delphine instantly smiled, "Are we doing it?" She flicked her tail, her hair fastened into a shell, the long twists reaching just below her butt.
Noah bit his lip, "I don't even know if it's possible the science doesn't seem to support your theory," he shook his head only for William to join him, "Yeah, and isn't it like, I don't know forbidden?" He folded his arms clearly uncomfortable.
Delphine shook her head, "No no no, it'll be fine," she assured, putting her hand on his shoulder, "Me and Lake found a secluded island, hidden behind an array of thick clouds and huge rocks." Lake nodded quickly, her thumbs up and her face almost too eager.
William lifted his eyebrow, "That doesn't make me feel better." He fidgeted with his fingers, not convinced.
Oliver shook his head with a laugh, "You're not getting out of it this time, besides we all need to practice our transformations more." He glided by, speaking as if offering a compromise.
Lake catching his drift added, "Technically we would be training," she shrugged causing everyone to laugh knowing this was more like a lazy trip, to explore and relax.
William however fell flat, attempting to use his body as dead weight, somehow forgetting the science behind water.
He met a mouth full of sand, but that didn't deter him, "No, pleaseeee, can't I just read a book?" William cried as his fingertips dug into the sand and everyone else except for Noah began dragging him by his tail.
"I'm being kidnapped," William whined, but Noah could see the small smile on his face.
Lake shook her head a laugh falling from her lips, "Too bad." Her brown hair shaking with her.
Oliver nudged Lake, "Race ya!"
She rolled her eyes, "You don't even know where we're going you blubber fish!" She yelled letting go of her hold of William, "Take it back!" Oliver cried racing after Lake, a tube left behind in their wake.
